[ Upstream commit 3f1dcaff642e75c1d2ad03f783fa8a3b1f56dd50 ]
The entry/exit latency and minimum residency in state for the idle
states of MSM8998 were ..bad: first of all, for all of them the
timings were written for CPU sleep but the min-residency-us param
was miscalculated (supposedly, while porting this from downstream);
Then, the power collapse states are setting PC on both the CPU
cluster *and* the L2 cache, which have different timings: in the
specific case of L2 the times are higher so these ones should be
taken into account instead of the CPU ones.
This parameter misconfiguration was not giving particular issues
because on MSM8998 there was no CPU scaling at all, so cluster/L2
power collapse was rarely (if ever) hit.
When CPU scaling is enabled, though, the wrong timings will produce
SoC unstability shown to the user as random, apparently error-less,
sudden reboots and/or lockups.
This set of parameters are stabilizing the SoC when CPU scaling is
ON and when power collapse is frequently hit.

The GCC_LPASS_Q6_AXI_CLK and GCC_LPASS_SWAY_CLK clocks may not be
touched on a typical UEFI based SDM845 device, but when the kernel is
built with CONFIG_SDM_LPASSCC_845 this happens, unless they are marked
as protected-clocks in the DT.
This was done for the MTP and the Pocophone, but not for DB845c and the
Lenovo Yoga C630 - causing these to fail to boot if the LPASS clock
controller is enabled (which it typically isn't).

[ Upstream commit a9164910c5ceed63551280a4a0b85d37ac2b19a5 ]
Indicated by AML code in ACPI table, the touchpad in-use could be found
on two possible slave addresses on &i2c3, i.e. hid@15 and hid@2c. And
which one is in-use can be determined by reading another address on the
I2C bus. Unfortunately, for DT boot, there is currently no support in
firmware to make this check and patch DT accordingly. This results in
a non-functional touchpad on those C630 devices with hid@2c.
As i2c-hid driver will stop probing the device if there is nothing on
the slave address, we can actually keep both devices enabled in DT, and
i2c-hid driver will only probe the existing one. The only problem is
that we cannot set up pinctrl in both device nodes, as two devices with
the same pinctrl will cause pin conflict that makes the second device
fail to probe. Let's move the pinctrl state up to parent node to solve
this problem. As the pinctrl state of parent node is already defined in
sdm845.dtsi, it ends up with overwriting pinctrl-0 with i2c3_hid_active
state added in there.

The mdss node sets #interrupt-cells = <1>, so its interrupts
should be referenced using a single cell (in this case: only the
interrupt number).
However, right now the mdp/dsi node both have two interrupt cells
set, e.g. interrupts = <4 0>. The 0 is probably meant to say
IRQ_TYPE_NONE (= 0), but with #interrupt-cells = <1> this is
actually interpreted as a second interrupt line.
Remove the IRQ flags from both interrupts to fix this.

Tha parent node of "wcd_codec" specifies #address-cells = <1>
and #size-cells = <0>, which means that each resource should be
described by one cell for the address and size omitted.
However, wcd_codec currently lists 0x200 as second cell (probably
the size of the resource). When parsing this would be treated like
another memory resource - which is entirely wrong.
To quote the device tree specification [1]:
"If the parent node specifies a value of 0 for #size-cells,
the length field in the value of reg shall be omitted."

Commit fe2aff0c574d2 ("arm64: dts: qcom: msm8916: remove unit name for thermal trip points")
removed the unit names for most of the thermal trip points defined
in msm8916.dtsi, but missed to update the one for cpu0_1-thermal.
So why wasn't this spotted by "make dtbs_check"? Apparently, the name
of the thermal zone is already invalid: thermal-zones.yaml specifies
a regex of ^[a-zA-Z][a-zA-Z0-9\\-]{1,12}-thermal$, so it is not allowed
to contain underscores. Therefore the thermal zone was never verified
using the DTB schema.
After replacing the underscore in the thermal zone name, the warning
shows up:
apq8016-sbc.dt.yaml: thermal-zones: cpu0-1-thermal:trips: 'trip-point@0'
does not match any of the regexes: '^[a-zA-Z][a-zA-Z0-9\\-_]{0,63}$', 'pinctrl-[0-9]+'

msm8916-pins.dtsi specifies "bias-pull-none" for most of the audio
pin configurations. This was likely copied from the qcom kernel fork
where the same property was used for these audio pins.
However, "bias-pull-none" actually does not exist at all - not in
mainline and not in downstream. I can only guess that the original
intention was to configure "no pull", i.e. bias-disable.

commit a636f93fcdb4a516e7cba6a365645ee8429602b2 upstream.
Boot failure has been reported on MSM8998 based laptop when
coresight is enabled. This is most likely due to lack of
firmware support for coresight on production device when
compared to debug device like MTP where this issue is not
observed. So disable coresight by default for MSM8998 and
enable it only for MSM8998 MTP.

commit e38161bd325ea541ef2f258d8e28281077dde524 upstream.
In the same way as for msm8974-hammerhead, l21 load, used for SDCARD
VMMC, needs to be increased in order to prevent any voltage drop issues
(due to limited current) happening with some SDCARDS or during specific
operations (e.g. write).

commit b40dd23f9a8987c8336df0a00e33f52b1f3f19ad upstream.
The retention idle state does not appear to be supported by the firmware
present on the msm8998 laptops since the state is advertised as disabled
in ACPI, and attempting to enable the state in DT is observed to result
in boot hangs. Therefore, remove the state from use to address the
observed issues.

'7d0c76bdf227 ("clk: qcom: Add WCSS gcc clock control for QCS404")'
introduces two new clocks to gcc. These are not used before
clk_disable_unused() and as such the clock framework tries to disable
them.
But on the EVB these registers are only accessible through TrustZone, so
these clocks must be marked as "protected" to prevent the clock code
from touching them.
Numerical values are used as the constants are not yet available in a
common tree.

Samsung Galaxy A3 (SM-A300FU) and Samsung Galaxy A5 (SM-A500FU)
are smartphones using the MSM8916 SoC released in 2015.
Add a device tree for A3U and A5U with initial support for:
- SDHCI (internal and external storage)
- USB Device Mode
- UART (on USB connector via the SM5502 MUIC)
- Regulators
The two devices (and all other variants of A3/A5 released in 2015)
are very similar, with some differences in display, touchscreen
and sensors. The common parts are shared in
msm8916-samsung-a2015-common.dtsi to reduce duplication.
The device tree is loosely based on apq8016-sbc.dtsi and the
downstream kernel provided by Samsung, mixed with a lot of own
research.
