In that case, all writes through the corresponding sysfs files would be silently ignored. To prevent this, detect the locks and make the affected sysfs files read-only. likely to have locked the alarm registers.  In that case, all writes
through the corresponding sysfs files would be silently ignored.

To prevent this, detect the locks and make the affected sysfs files
read-only.
