A newly introduced function in include/net/sock.h passes a const
argument to smp_load_acquire:

  static inline int sk_state_load(const struct sock *sk)
  {
	return smp_load_acquire(&amp;sk-&gt;sk_state);
  }

This cause an allmodconfig build failure, since our underlying
load-acquire implementation does not handle const types correctly:

  include/net/sock.h: In function 'sk_state_load':
  ./arch/arm64/include/asm/barrier.h:71:3: error: read-only variable '___p1' used as 'asm' output
     asm volatile ("ldarb %w0, %1"    \

This patch fixes the problem by reusing the trick in READ_ONCE that
loads via a non-const member of an anonymous union. This has the
advantage of allowing us to use smp_load_acquire on packed structures
(e.g. arch_spinlock_t) as well as primitive types.

Nobody seems to be producing !SMP systems anymore, so this is just
becoming a source of kernel bugs, particularly if people want to use
coherent DMA with non-shared pages.

This patch forces CONFIG_SMP=y for arm64, removing a modest amount of
code in the process.

Commit 8053871d0f7f ("smp: Fix smp_call_function_single_async()
locking") introduced a call to smp_load_acquire() with a u16 argument,
but we only cared about u32 and u64 types in that function so far.
This resulted in a compiler warning fortunately, pointing at an
uninitialized use. Due to the implementation structure the compiler
misses that bug in the smp_store_release(), though.
Add the u16 and u8 variants using ldarh/stlrh and ldarb/stlrb,
respectively. Together with the compiletime_assert_atomic_type() check
this should cover all cases now.

<title>arch: Add lightweight memory barriers dma_rmb() and dma_wmb()</title>

<id>1077fa36f23e259858caf6f269a47393a5aff523</id>
<content type='text'>
There are a number of situations where the mandatory barriers rmb() and
wmb() are used to order memory/memory operations in the device drivers
and those barriers are much heavier than they actually need to be. For
example in the case of PowerPC wmb() calls the heavy-weight sync
instruction when for coherent memory operations all that is really needed
is an lsync or eieio instruction.

This commit adds a coherent only version of the mandatory memory barriers
rmb() and wmb(). In most cases this should result in the barrier being the
same as the SMP barriers for the SMP case, however in some cases we use a
barrier that is somewhere in between rmb() and smp_rmb(). For example on
ARM the rmb barriers break down as follows:

  Barrier   Call     Explanation
  --------- -------- ----------------------------------
  rmb() dsb() Data synchronization barrier - system
  dma_rmb() dmb(osh) data memory barrier - outer sharable
  smp_rmb() dmb(ish) data memory barrier - inner sharable

These new barriers are not as safe as the standard rmb() and wmb().
Specifically they do not guarantee ordering between coherent and incoherent
memories. The primary use case for these would be to enforce ordering of
reads and writes when accessing coherent memory that is shared between the
CPU and a device.

It may also be noted that there is no dma_mb(). Most architectures don't
provide a good mechanism for performing a coherent only full barrier without
resorting to the same mechanism used in mb(). As such there isn't much to
be gained in trying to define such a function.

The recently introduced acquire/release accessors refer to smp_mb()
in the !CONFIG_SMP case. This is confusing when reading the code, so use
barrier() directly when we know we're UP.
