It happens on the U8420-sysclk Ux500 PRCMU firmware
variant that the MTU clock is just 32768 Hz, and in this
mode the minimum ticks is 5 rather than two.

I think this is simply so that there is enough time
for the register write to propagate through the
interconnect to the registers.

<title>clocksource: Replace setup_irq() by request_irq()</title>

request_irq() is preferred over setup_irq(). The early boot setup_irq()
invocations happen either via 'init_IRQ()' or 'time_init()', while
memory allocators are ready by 'mm_init()'.

Per tglx[1], setup_irq() existed in olden days when allocators were not
ready by the time early interrupts were initialized.

Hence replace setup_irq() by request_irq().

Seldom remove_irq() usage has been observed coupled with setup_irq(),
wherever that has been found, it too has been replaced by free_irq().

A build error that was reported by kbuild test robot &lt;lkp@intel.com&gt;
in the previous version of the patch also has been fixed.

<title>clocksource/drivers/ux500: Drop Ux500 custom SCHED_CLOCK</title>

The two drivers used for Ux500 sched_clock use two Kconfig
symbols to select which of the two gets used as sched_clock.

This isn't right: the workaround is trying to make sure that
the NONSTOP timer is used for sched_clock in order to keep
that clock ticking consistently over a suspend/resume
cycle. (Otherwise sched_clock simply stops during suspend
and continues after resume).

This will notably affect any timetstamped debug prints,
so that they show the absolute number of seconds since the
system was booted and does not loose wall-clock time during
suspend and resume as if time stood still.

The real way to fix this problem is to make sched_clock
take advantage of any NONSTOP clock source on the system
and adjust accordingly, not to try to work around this by
using a different sched_clock depending on what system
we are compiling for. This can solve the problem for
everyone instead of providing a local solution.

<title>clocksource/drivers: Rename CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE to TIMER_OF_DECLARE</title>

The CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE macro is used widely for the timers to declare the
clocksource at early stage. However, this macro is also used to initialize
the clockevent if any, or the clockevent only.

It was originally suggested to declare another macro to initialize a
clockevent, so in order to separate the two entities even they belong to the
same IP. This was not accepted because of the impact on the DT where splitting
a clocksource/clockevent definition does not make sense as it is a Linux
concept not a hardware description.

On the other side, the clocksource has not interrupt declared while the
clockevent has, so it is easy from the driver to know if the description is
for a clockevent or a clocksource, IOW it could be implemented at the driver
level.

So instead of dealing with a named clocksource macro, let's use a more generic
one: TIMER_OF_DECLARE.

The patch has not functional changes.

The init functions do not return any error. They behave as the following:

  - panic, thus leading to a kernel crash while another timer may work and
make the system boot up correctly

  or

  - print an error and let the caller unaware if the state of the system

Change that by converting the init functions to return an error conforming
to the CLOCKSOURCE_OF_RET prototype.

Proper error handling (rollback, errno value) will be changed later case
by case, thus this change just return back an error or success in the init
function.

Migrate nomadik-mtu driver to the new 'set-state' interface provided by
clockevents core, the earlier 'set-mode' interface is marked obsolete
now.

This also enables us to implement callbacks for new states of clockevent
devices, for example: ONESHOT_STOPPED.

Pull ARM SoC DT updates from Olof Johansson:
"DT and DT-conversion-related changes for various ARM platforms. Most
of these are to enable various devices on various boards, etc, and not
  necessarily worth enumerating.

New boards and systems continue to come in as new devicetree files
that don't require corresponding C changes any more, which is
indicating that the system is starting to work fairly well.

A few things worth pointing out:

   * ST Ericsson ux500 platforms have made the major push to move over
to fully support the platform with DT
   * Renesas platforms continue their conversion over from legacy
platform devices to DT-based for hardware description"
