2021-02-22Merge branch 'i2c/for-5.12' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang: - mostly driver updates. Bigger ones for mlxcpld and iproc. But most of them are all over the place. - removal of the efm32, sirf, u300, and zte zx bus drivers because of platform removal. So, we have a pleasant diffstat this time. - first set of cleanups in the I2C core as preparation to increase maximum length of SMBus transfers to 255 (as specified in the new standard). Better documentation of struct i2c_msg and its flags stand out here. - the testunit can now respond to SMBus block process calls which is the testcase when implementing the above new maximum length. * 'i2c/for-5.12' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux: (62 commits) i2c: remove redundant error print in stm32f7_i2c_probe i2c: testunit: add support for block process calls i2c: busses: Replace spin_lock_irqsave with spin_lock in hard IRQ dt-bindings: eeprom: at24: Document ROHM BR24G01 i2c: i801: Add support for Intel Alder Lake PCH-P i2c: mv64xxx: Fix check for missing clock after adding RPM i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Add callback to notify mux creation completion i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Extend supported mux number i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Extend driver to support word address space devices i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Get rid of adapter numbers enforcement i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Prepare mux selection infrastructure for two-byte support i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Convert driver to platform driver i2c: imx: Synthesize end of transaction events without idle interrupts i2c: i2c-qcom-geni: Add shutdown callback for i2c i2c: mv64xxx: Add runtime PM support i2c: amd-mp2: Remove unused macro i2c: amd-mp2: convert to PCI logging functions i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Move header file out of x86 realm platform/x86: mlxcpld: Update module license i2c: mux: mlxcpld: Update module license ...

Running 'dt-validate -m' will flag any compatible strings missing a schema. Fix all the errors found in DT binding examples. Most of these are just typos. 2021-01-29dt-bindings: Cleanup standard unit propertiesRob Herring
Properties with standard unit suffixes already have a type and don't need type definitions. They also default to a single entry, so 'maxItems: 1' can be dropped. adi,ad5758 is an oddball which defined an enum of arrays. While a valid schema, it is simpler as a whole to only define scalar constraints. 2020-12-14dt-bindings: i2c: dw: cancel mandatory requirements for "#address-cells" and ↵Zhen Lei
"#size-cells" The "#address-cells" and "#size-cells" are required only when the I2C controller has subnodes. However, some I2C controllers defined in "arch/arm64/boot/dts/amd/" and "arch/arm64/boot/dts/hisilicon/" directories do not have child nodes. So they don't need these two properties and don't write them explicitly. Therefore, setting properties "#address-cells" and "#size-cells" as "required" in this yaml file causes the following warnings: /root/linux-next/arch/arm64/boot/dts/hisilicon/hi6220-hikey.dt.yaml: \ i2c@f7100000: '#address-cells' is a required property /root/linux-next/arch/arm64/boot/dts/hisilicon/hi6220-hikey.dt.yaml: \ i2c@f7100000: '#size-cells' is a required property Signed-off-by: Zhen Lei <thunder.leizhen@huawei.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20201214124347.2120-2-thunder.leizhen@huawei.com Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org>

2020-10-07dt-bindings: Add missing 'unevaluatedProperties'Rob Herring
This doesn't yet do anything in the tools, but make it explicit so we can check either 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties' is present in schemas. 'unevaluatedProperties' is appropriate when including another schema (via '$ref') and all possible properties and/or child nodes are not explicitly listed in the schema with the '$ref'. This is in preparation to add a meta-schema to check for missing 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties'. This has been a constant source of review issues. 2020-08-05dt-bindings: i2c: add generic properties for GPIO bus recoveryCodrin Ciubotariu
The I2C GPIO bus recovery properties consist of two GPIOS and one extra pinctrl state ("gpio" or "recovery"). "recovery" pinctrl state is considered deprecated and "gpio" should be used instead. 2020-07-17dt-bindings: i2c-gpio: Use 'deprecated' keyword on deprecated propertiesRob Herring
The i2c-gpio binding is the only case of 'not: true' being used for a deprecated property. Update it to use the json-schema 2019.09 'deprecated' keyword instead. Define the type too in order to keep the meta-schema happy. This will disable warnings for these properties until the dtschema tools are updated to handle 'deprecated', but they are only used in a few at91 dts files. A conversion of the i2c-pxa binding to DT schema format using json-schema. This also cleans ups some errors in the binding: The compatible string description suggested that "mmp" in "mrvl,mmp-twsi" is to be substituted with a processor model, which wouldn't be a right thing to do and indeed nobody seems to have been doing that. There also was "Recommended properties" section that included optional as well as mandatory properties. Missing mandatory properties were added to the example. I hope it is the move to per-driver-maintainers which is now showing results. We will see. The big news is two new drivers (Nuvoton NPCM and Qualcomm CCI), larger refactoring of the Designware, Tegra, and PXA drivers, the Cadence driver supports being a slave now, and there is support to instanciate SPD eeproms for well-known cases (which will be user-visible because the i801 driver supports it), and some devm_platform_ioremap_resource() conversions which blow up the diffstat. Note that I applied the Nuvoton driver quite late, so some minor fixup patches arrived during the merge window. 2020-05-30dt-bindings: i2c: Convert DW I2C slave to the DW I2C master exampleSerge Semin
dtc currently doesn't support I2C_OWN_SLAVE_ADDRESS flag set in the i2c "reg" property. If dtc finds an i2c-slave sub-node having an address higher than ten-bits wide it'll print an ugly warning: Warning (i2c_bus_reg): /example-2/i2c@1120000/eeprom@64: I2C bus unit address format error, expected "40000064" Warning (i2c_bus_reg): /example-2/i2c@1120000/eeprom@64:reg: I2C address must be less than 10-bits, got "0x40000064" In order to silence dtc up let's replace the corresponding DT binding example with a normal DW I2C master mode-based one. It's done by clearing the I2C_OWN_SLAVE_ADDRESS bit in the reg property and converting the sub-node to be compatible with normal EEPROM like "atmel,24c02". Just revert this commit when dtc is fixed. Modern device tree bindings are supposed to be created as YAML-files in accordance with dt-schema. This commit replaces Synopsys DW I2C legacy bare text bindings with YAML file. As before the bindings file states that the corresponding dts node is supposed to be compatible either with generic DW I2C controller or with Microsemi Ocelot SoC I2C one, to have registers, interrupts and clocks properties. In addition the node may have clock-frequency, i2c-sda-hold-time-ns, i2c-scl-falling-time-ns and i2c-sda-falling-time-ns optional properties.
