2021-01-05dt-bindings: input: adc-keys: clarify descriptionHeinrich Schuchardt
The current description of ADC keys is not precise enough. "when this key is pressed" leaves it open if a key is considered pressed below or above the threshold. This has led to confusion: drivers/input/keyboard/adc-keys.c ignores the meaning of thresholds and sets the key that is closest to press-threshold-microvolt. This patch nails down the definitions and provides an interpretation of the supplied example. 2020-12-22dt-bindings: Drop unnecessary *-supply schemas propertiesRob Herring
*-supply properties are always a single phandle, so binding schemas don't need a type $ref nor 'maxItems'. A meta-schema check for this is pending once these existing cases are fixed. 2020-12-18dt-bindings: Fix JSON pointersRob Herring
The correct syntax for JSON pointers begins with a '/' after the '#'. Without a '/', the string should be interpreted as a subschema identifier. The jsonschema module currently doesn't handle subschema identifiers and incorrectly allows JSON pointers to begin without a '/'. Let's fix this before it becomes a problem when jsonschema module is fixed. The Samsung touchkey controllers are often used with external pull-up for the interrupt line and the I2C lines, so we might need to enable a regulator to bring the lines into usable state. 2020-12-09dt-bindings: input: tm2-touchkey: convert to yamlStephan Gerhold
Convert the device tree bindings for tm2-touchkey to the YAML format. While we're at it, clarify the descriptions a bit to make it clear that this driver can be used for many different MCUs that all implement a similar I2C protocol. Depending on the MCU the voltage requirements may be different, on some devices the controller uses 2.2V, 2.8V or even 3.3V for vcc-supply instead of 1.8V. This doesn't yet do anything in the tools, but make it explicit so we can check either 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties' is present in schemas. 'unevaluatedProperties' is appropriate when including another schema (via '$ref') and all possible properties and/or child nodes are not explicitly listed in the schema with the '$ref'. 2020-06-11dt-bindings: Remove more cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'Rob Herring
Another round of 'allOf' removals that came in this cycle. json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). The correct form was to put a '$ref' under an 'allOf'. This behavior is now changed in the 2019-09 json-schema spec and '$ref' can be mixed with other keywords. The json-schema library doesn't yet support this, but the tooling now does a fixup for this and either way works. This has been a constant source of review comments, so let's change this treewide so everyone copies the simpler syntax. Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org>

2020-05-03dt-bindings: Remove cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'Rob Herring
json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). Scripted with ruamel.yaml with some manual fixups. Some minor whitespace changes from the script. 2020-04-16dt-bindings: Clean-up schema indentation formattingRob Herring
Fix various inconsistencies in schema indentation. Most of these are list indentation which should be 2 spaces more than the start of the enclosing keyword. This doesn't matter functionally, but affects running scripts which do transforms on the schema files. 2020-04-16dt-bindings: input: Convert gpio-keys bindings to schemaRob Herring
Convert the gpio-keys and gpio-keys-polled bindings to a DT schema. As both bindings are almost the same, combine them into a single schema. The binding said 'interrupts' was required, but testing on dts files showed that it isn't required. 'linux,input-value' was only documented for gpio-keys-polled, but there doesn't seem to be any reason for it to be specific to that. It can work for gpio-keys too if the GPIO line(s) are available. 2020-03-31dt-bindings: Add missing 'additionalProperties: false'Rob Herring
Setting 'additionalProperties: false' is frequently omitted, but is important in order to check that there aren't extra undocumented properties in a binding. Ideally, we'd just add this automatically and make this the default, but there's some cases where it doesn't work. For example, if a common schema is referenced, then properties in the common schema aren't part of what's considered for 'additionalProperties'. Also, sometimes there are bus specific properties such as 'spi-max-frequency' that go into bus child nodes, but aren't defined in the child node's schema. So let's stick with the json-schema defined default and add 'additionalProperties: false' where needed. This will be a continual review comment and game of wack-a-mole. This patch adds device tree bindings for the Azoteq IQS620A, IQS621, IQS622, IQS624 and IQS625 multi-function sensors. A total of three bindings are presented (one MFD and two child nodes); they are submitted as a single patch because the child node bindings have no meaning in the absence of the MFD binding.
