commit a91d92875ee94e4703fd017ccaadb48cfb344994 upstream.
We only need to set max_pfn_mapped to the last pfn mapped on x86_64 to
make sure that cleanup_highmap doesn't remove important mappings at
_end.
We don't need to do this on x86_32 because cleanup_highmap is not called
on x86_32. Besides lowering max_pfn_mapped on x86_32 has the unwanted
side effect of limiting the amount of memory available for the 1:1
kernel pagetable allocation.
This patch reverts the x86_32 part of the original patch.

commit f124c6ae59e193705c9ddac57684d50006d710e6 upstream.
b->args[] has MC_ARGS elements, so the comparison here should be
">=" instead of ">". Otherwise we read past the end of the array
one space.

commit 7899891c7d161752f29abcc9bc0a9c6c3a3af26c upstream.
There's a race window in xen_drop_mm_ref, where remote cpu may exit
dirty bitmap between the check on this cpu and the point where remote
cpu handles drop request. So in drop_other_mm_ref we need check
whether TLB state is still lazy before calling into leave_mm. This
bug is rarely observed in earlier kernel, but exaggerated by the

commit 14988a4d350ce3b41ecad4f63c4f44c56f5ae34d upstream.
Do not set max_pfn_mapped to the end of the initial memory mappings,
that also contain pages that don't belong in pfn space (like the mfn
list).
Set max_pfn_mapped to the last real pfn mapped in the initial memory
mappings that is the pfn backing _end.

commit e7a3481c0246c8e45e79c629efd63b168e91fcda upstream.
If the guest domain has been suspend/resumed or migrated, then the
system clock backing the pvclock clocksource may revert to a smaller
value (ie, can be non-monotonic across the migration/save-restore).
Make sure we zero last_value in that case so that the domain
continues to see clock updates.

commit 31e323cca9d5c8afd372976c35a5d46192f540d1 upstream.
Xen will shoot all the VCPUs when we do a shutdown hypercall, so there's
no need to do it manually.
In any case it will fail because all the IPI irqs have been pulled
down by this point, so the cross-CPU calls will simply hang forever.
Until change 76fac077db6b34e2c6383a7b4f3f4f7b7d06d8ce the function calls
were not synchronously waited for, so this wasn't apparent. However after
that change the calls became synchronous leading to a hang on shutdown
on multi-VCPU guests.

commit 76fac077db6b34e2c6383a7b4f3f4f7b7d06d8ce upstream.
x86 smp_ops now has a new op, stop_other_cpus which takes a parameter
"wait" this allows the caller to specify if it wants to stop until all
the cpus have processed the stop IPI. This is required specifically
for the kexec case where we should wait for all the cpus to be stopped
before starting the new kernel. We now wait for the cpus to stop in
all cases except for panic/kdump where we expect things to be broken
and we are doing our best to make things work anyway.
This patch fixes a legitimate regression, which was introduced during
2.6.30, by commit id 4ef702c10b5df18ab04921fc252c26421d4d6c75.

commit cd52e17ea8278f8449b6174a8e5ed439a2e44ffb upstream.
The core suspend/resume code is run from stop_machine on CPU0 but
parts of the suspend/resume machinery (including xen_arch_resume) are
run on whichever CPU happened to schedule the xenwatch kernel thread.
As part of the non-core resume code xen_arch_resume is called in order
to restart the timer tick on non-boot processors. The boot processor
itself is taken care of by core timekeeping code.
xen_arch_resume uses smp_call_function which does not call the given
function on the current processor. This means that we can end up with
one CPU not receiving timer ticks if the xenwatch thread happened to
be scheduled on CPU > 0.
Use on_each_cpu instead of smp_call_function to ensure the timer tick
is resumed everywhere.

commit 817a824b75b1475f1b067c8cee318c7b4d66fcde upstream.
There's a path in the pagefault code where the kernel deliberately
breaks its own locking rules by kmapping a high pte page without
holding the pagetable lock (in at least page_check_address). This
breaks Xen's ability to track the pinned/unpinned state of the
page. There does not appear to be a viable workaround for this
behaviour so simply disable HIGHPTE for all Xen guests.

Under Xen 64 bit guests actually run their kernel in ring 3,
however the hypervisor takes care of squashing descriptor the
RPLs transparently (in order to allow them to continue to
differentiate between user and kernel space CS using the RPL).
Therefore the Xen paravirt backend should use RPL==0 instead of
1 (or 3). Using RPL==1 causes generic arch code to take
incorrect code paths because it uses "testl $3, <CS>, je foo"
type tests for a userspace CS and this considers 1==userspace.
This issue was previously masked because get_kernel_rpl() was
omitted when setting CS in kernel_thread(). This was fixed when
kernel_thread() was unified with 32 bit in

The raw_spin* namespace was taken by lockdep for the architecture
specific implementations. raw_spin_* would be the ideal name space for
the spinlocks which are not converted to sleeping locks in preempt-rt.
Linus suggested to convert the raw_ to arch_ locks and cleanup the
name space instead of using an artifical name like core_spin,
atomic_spin or whatever

Commit ae21ee65e8bc228416bbcc8a1da01c56a847a60c "PCI: acs p2p upsteram
forwarding enabling" doesn't actually enable ACS.
Add a function to pci core to allow an IOMMU to request that ACS
be enabled. The existing mechanism of using iommu_found() in the pci
core to know when ACS should be enabled doesn't actually work due to
initialization order; iommu has only been detected not initialized.
Have Intel and AMD IOMMUs request ACS, and Xen does as well during early
init of dom0.

tick_resume() is never called on secondary processors. Presumably this
is because they are offlined for suspend on native and so this is
normally taken care of in the CPU onlining path. Under Xen we keep all
CPUs online over a suspend.
This patch papers over the issue for me but I will investigate a more
generic, less hacky, way of doing to the same.
tick_suspend is also only called on the boot CPU which I presume should
be fixed too.

If Xen wants to return to a 32b usermode with sysret it must use the
right form. When using VCGF_in_syscall to trigger this, it looks at
the code segment and does a 32b sysret if it is FLAT_USER_CS32.
However, this is different from __USER32_CS, so it fails to return
properly if we use the normal Linux segment.
So avoid the whole mess by dropping VCGF_in_syscall and simply use
plain iret to return to usermode.

xen: split construction of p2m mfn tables from registration
Build the p2m_mfn_list_list early with the rest of the p2m table, but
register it later when the real shared_info structure is in place.
Signed-off-by: Jeremy Fitzhardinge <jeremy.fitzhardinge@citrix.com>
The unforeseen side-effect of this change was to cause the mfn list list to not
be rebuilt on resume. Prior to this change it would have been rebuilt via
xen_post_suspend() -> xen_setup_shared_info() -> xen_setup_mfn_list_list().
Fix by explicitly calling xen_build_mfn_list_list() from xen_post_suspend().

This is necessary to ensure the runstate area is available to
xen_sched_clock before any calls to printk which will require it in
order to provide a timestamp.
I chose to pull the xen_setup_runstate_info out of xen_time_init into
the caller in order to maintain parity with calling
xen_setup_runstate_info separately from calling xen_time_resume.

The 32- and 64-bit code used very different mechanisms for enabling
NX, but even the 32-bit code was enabling NX in head_32.S if it is
available. Furthermore, we had a bewildering collection of tests for
the available of NX.
This patch:
a) merges the 32-bit set_nx() and the 64-bit check_efer() function
into a single x86_configure_nx() function. EFER control is left
to the head code.
b) eliminates the nx_enabled variable entirely. Things that need to
test for NX enablement can verify __supported_pte_mask directly,
and cpu_has_nx gives the supported status of NX.

A Xen guest never needs to know about extended topology, and knowing
would just confuse it.
This patch just zeros ebx in leaf 0xb which indicates no topology info,
preventing a crash under Xen on cpus which support this leaf.

This patch updates percpu related symbols in xen such that percpu
symbols are unique and don't clash with local symbols. This serves
two purposes of decreasing the possibility of global percpu symbol
collision and allowing dropping per_cpu__ prefix from percpu symbols.
* arch/x86/xen/smp.c, arch/x86/xen/time.c, arch/ia64/xen/irq_xen.c:
add xen_ prefix to percpu variables
* arch/ia64/xen/time.c: add xen_ prefix to percpu variables, drop
processed_ prefix and make them static

which cause name clashes" patch.

We need to have a stronger barrier between releasing the lock and
checking for any waiting spinners. A compiler barrier is not sufficient
because the CPU's ordering rules do not prevent the read xl->spinners
from happening before the unlock assignment, as they are different
memory locations.
We need to have an explicit barrier to enforce the write-read ordering
to different memory locations.
Because of it, I can't bring up > 4 HVM guests on one SMP machine.

Where possible we enable interrupts while waiting for a spinlock to
become free, in order to reduce big latency spikes in interrupt handling.
However, at present if we manage to pick up the spinlock just before
blocking, we'll end up holding the lock with interrupts enabled for a
while. This will cause a deadlock if we recieve an interrupt in that
window, and the interrupt handler tries to take the lock too.
Solve this by shrinking the interrupt-enabled region to just around the
blocking call.

-fstack-protector uses a special per-cpu "stack canary" value.
gcc generates special code in each function to test the canary to make
sure that the function's stack hasn't been overrun.
On x86-64, this is simply an offset of %gs, which is the usual per-cpu
base segment register, so setting it up simply requires loading %gs's
base as normal.
On i386, the stack protector segment is %gs (rather than the usual kernel
percpu %fs segment register). This requires setting up the full kernel
GDT and then loading %gs accordingly. We also need to make sure %gs is
initialized when bringing up secondary cpus too.
To keep things consistent, we do the full GDT/segment register setup on
both architectures.
Because we need to avoid -fstack-protected code before setting up the GDT
and because there's no way to disable it on a per-function basis, several
files need to have stack-protector inhibited.

For some reason, the _safe MSR functions returned -EFAULT, not -EIO.
However, the only user which cares about the return code as anything
other than a boolean is the MSR driver, which wants -EIO. Change it

TSC calibration is modified by the vmware hypervisor and paravirt by
separate means. Moorestown wants to add its own calibration routine as
well. So make calibrate_tsc a proper x86_init_ops function and

hypervisor.
