2012-05-07[media] stk-webcam: Don't flip the image by defaultHans de Goede
Prior to this patch the stk-webcam driver was enabling the vflip and mirror bits in the sensor by default. Which only is the right thing to do if the sensor is actually mounted upside down, which it usually is not. Actually we've received upside down reports for both usb-ids which this driver supports, one for an "ASUSTeK Computer Inc." "A3H" laptop with a build in 174f:a311 webcam, and one for an "To Be Filled By O.E.M." "Z96FM" laptop with a build in 05e1:0501 webcam. 2012-01-13module_param: make bool parameters really bool (drivers & misc)Rusty Russell
module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy trick. It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For this version it'll simply give a warning, but it'll break next kernel version. Acked-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au>
2011-12-30[media] v4l2-ctrls: Use kcalloc instead of kzalloc to allocate arrayThomas Meyer
The advantage of kcalloc is, that will prevent integer overflows which could result from the multiplication of number of elements and size and it is also a bit nicer to read. The semantic patch that makes this change is available in https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/11/25/107 Signed-off-by: Thomas Meyer <thomas@m3y3r.de> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2011-11-18USB: convert drivers/media/* to use module_usb_driver()Greg Kroah-Hartman
This converts the drivers in drivers/media/* to use the module_usb_driver() macro which makes the code smaller and a bit simpler. Added bonus is that it removes some unneeded kernel log messages about drivers loading and/or unloading. 2011-09-23[media] stk-webcam.c: webcam LED bug fixArvydas Sidorenko
This is an improved version of the patch I sent a little ago. The problem was: On my DC-1125 webcam chip from Syntek, whenever the webcam turns on, the LED light on it is turned on also and never turns off again unless system is shut downed or restarted. The previous version seemed to break some other laptop webcam work. Thanks to Andrea Anacleto for the bug report and solution. 2010-11-08[media] v4l: kill the BKLArnd Bergmann
All of the hard problems for BKL removal appear to be solved in the v4l-dvb/master tree. This removes the BKL from the various open functions that do not need it, or only use it to protect an open count. The zoran driver is nontrivial in this regard, so I introduce a new mutex that locks both the open/release and the ioctl functions. Someone with access to the hardware can probably improve that by using the existing lock in all cases. Finally, all drivers that still use the locked version of the ioctl function now get called under a new mutex instead of the BKL. 2009-03-30V4L/DVB (11265): stkwebcam: Remove buffer type check from g_parm and ↵Trent Piepho
q/dq/reqbufs The v4l2-ioctl core only allows buffer types for which the corresponding ->vidioc_try_fmt_xxx() methods are defined to be used with vidioc_(q|dq|query)bufs(), vidioc_reqbufs() and now vidioc_(s|g)_parm. This driver only defines ->vidioc_try_fmt_vid_cap() so only VIDEO_CAPTURE buffers are allowed to be used with vidioc_g_parm(), vidioc_qbuf(), vidioc_dqbuf(), and vidioc_reqbufs(). 2009-03-30V4L/DVB (10817): stkwebcam: Don't need to zero ioctl parameter fieldsTrent Piepho
The v4l2 core code in v4l2_ioctl will zero out the structure the driver is supposed to fill in for read-only ioctls. For read/write ioctls, all the fields which aren't supplied from userspace will be zeroed out. Zeroing code is removed from enum_fmt_vid_cap, g_fmt_vid_cap, and g_parm. Signed-off-by: Trent Piepho <xyzzy@speakeasy.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2009-03-30V4L/DVB (10794): v4l2: Move code to zero querybuf output struct to v4l2_ioctlTrent Piepho
For VIDIOC_QUERYBUF only the first two fields, size and type, are used as input. The rest can be filled in by the driver as output. Most drivers do not actually use all the field and unused ones should be zeroed out. Some drivers have code to do this and some drivers should but don't. So put some zero out code in v4l2_ioctl so that all drivers using that system get it. The drivers that have zeroing code get that code removed. Some drivers checked that the type field was valid, but v4l2_ioctl already does this so those checks can be removed as well. 2009-01-02V4L/DVB (10135): v4l2: introduce v4l2_file_operations.Hans Verkuil
Introduce a struct v4l2_file_operations for v4l2 drivers. Remove the unnecessary inode argument. Move compat32 handling (and llseek) into the v4l2-dev core: this is now handled in the v4l2 core and no longer in the drivers themselves. Note that this changeset reverts an earlier patch that changed the return type of__video_ioctl2 from int to long. This change will be reinstated later in a much improved version. 2008-12-30V4L/DVB (10130): use USB API functions rather than constantsJulia Lawall
This set of patches introduces calls to the following set of functions: usb_endpoint_dir_in(epd) usb_endpoint_dir_out(epd) usb_endpoint_is_bulk_in(epd) usb_endpoint_is_bulk_out(epd) usb_endpoint_is_int_in(epd) usb_endpoint_is_int_out(epd) usb_endpoint_is_isoc_in(epd) usb_endpoint_is_isoc_out(epd) usb_endpoint_num(epd) usb_endpoint_type(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_bulk(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_control(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_int(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_isoc(epd) In some cases, introducing one of these functions is not possible, and it just replaces an explicit integer value by one of the following constants: USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_BULK USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_CONTROL USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_INT USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_ISOC An extract of the semantic patch that makes these changes is as follows: (http://www.emn.fr/x-info/coccinelle/) // <smpl> @r1@ struct usb_endpoint_descriptor *epd; @@ - ((epd->bmAttributes & \(USB_ENDPOINT_XFERTYPE_MASK\|3\)) == - \(USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_CONTROL\|0\)) + usb_endpoint_xfer_control(epd) @r5@ struct usb_endpoint_descriptor *epd; @@ - ((epd->bEndpointAddress & \(USB_ENDPOINT_DIR_MASK\|0x80\)) == - \(USB_DIR_IN\|0x80\)) + usb_endpoint_dir_in(epd) // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>

2008-10-21V4L/DVB (9327): v4l: use video_device.num instead of minor in video%dHans Verkuil
The kernel number of a v4l2 node (e.g. videoX, radioX or vbiX) is now independent of the minor number. So instead of using the minor field of the video_device struct one has to use the num field: this always contains the kernel number of the device node. I forgot about this when I did the v4l2 core change, so this patch converts all drivers that use it in one go. Luckily the change is trivial. 2008-10-17V4L/DVB (9194): stk-webcam: fix crash on close after disconnectDavid Ellingsworth

2008-10-17V4L/DVB (9193): stk-webcam: minor cleanupDavid Ellingsworth
This patch: 1) removes the unnecessary kref.h include file 2) removes unnecessary pointer validation from read and poll routines. (Neither poll nor read may be called unless a call to open succeeds. A successful call to open will always set the file private_data pointer. Verifying that it is not null is therefore unnecessary. The associated release and mmap calls currently ignore this check.) 3) adds a space to syslog output. 4) removes an unused function prototype. Signed-off-by: David Ellingsworth <david@identd.dyndns.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2008-10-12V4L/DVB (9034): With the recent patch to v4l2 titled "v4l2: use ↵David Ellingsworth
register_chrdev_region instead of register_chrdev", the internal reference count is no longer necessary in order to free the internal stk_webcam struct. This patch removes the reference counter from the stk_webcam struct and frees the struct via the video_device release callback. It also fixes an associated bug in stk_camera_probe which could result from video_unregister_device being called before video_register_device. Lastly, it simplifies access to the stk_webcam struct in several places. This patch should apply cleanly against the "working" branch of the v4l-dvb git repository. This patch is identical to the patch I sent a couple of months back titled "stk-webcam: Fix video_device handling" except that it has been rebased against current modifications to stk-webcam and it no longer depends on any other outstanding patches. 2008-10-12V4L/DVB (8613): v4l: move BKL down to the driver level.Hans Verkuil
The BKL is now moved from the video_open function in v4l2-dev.c to the various drivers. 2008-07-26V4L/DVB (8482): videodev: move all ioctl callbacks to a new v4l2_ioctl_ops ↵Hans Verkuil
struct All ioctl callbacks are now stored in a new v4l2_ioctl_ops struct. Drivers fill in a const struct v4l2_ioctl_ops and video_device just contains a const pointer to it.
