2016-04-20[media] au0828: Fix dev_state handlingMauro Carvalho Chehab
[ Upstream commit e8e3039f5b941f7825d335f8ca11c12a8104db11 ] The au0828 dev_state is actually a bit mask. It should not be checking with "==" but, instead, with a logic and. There are some places where it was doing it wrong. Fix that by replacing the dev_state set/clear/test with the bitops. As reviewed by Shuah: "Looks good. Tested running bind/unbind au0828 loop for 1000 times. Didn't see any problems and the v4l2_querycap() problem has been fixed with this patch. After the above test, ran bind/unbind snd_usb_audio 1000 times. Didn't see any problems. Generated media graph and the graph looks good." A loop test of bind/unbind found this bug by increasing the likelihood of au0828_v4l2_open() occurring while unbind is in progress. 2016-04-18[media] bttv: Width must be a multiple of 16 when capturing planar formatsHans de Goede
[ Upstream commit 5c915c68763889f0183a1cc61c84bb228b60124a ] On my bttv card "Hauppauge WinTV [card=10]" capturing in YV12 fmt at max size results in a solid green rectangle being captured (all colors 0 in YUV). This turns out to be caused by max-width (924) not being a multiple of 16. We've likely never hit this problem before since normally xawtv / tvtime, etc. will prefer packed pixel formats. But when using a video card which is using xf86-video-modesetting + glamor, only planar XVideo fmts are available, and xawtv will chose a matching capture format to avoid needing to do conversion, triggering the solid green window problem. 2016-04-18[media] adv7511: TX_EDID_PRESENT is still 1 after a disconnectHans Verkuil
[ Upstream commit b339a72e04a62f0b1882c43492fc712f1176b3e6 ] The V4L2_CID_TX_EDID_PRESENT control reports if an EDID is present. The adv7511 however still reported the EDID present after disconnecting the HDMI cable. Fix the logic regarding this control. And when the EDID is disconnected also call ADV7511_EDID_DETECT to notify the bridge driver. This was also missing. If the device is not locked, the data at the registers are just random values with no real meaning. This caused the driver to fail with libdvbv5, as such library calls GET_PROPERTY from time to time, in order to return the DVB stats. To reset manually applications can just set this field to zero. fix the issue by resetting the frame rate to a default value in case of an unusable timeperframe. The fix is done in the subdrivers instead of gspca.c because only the subdrivers have notion of a default frame rate to reset the camera to. 2016-02-01[media] vb2: fix a regression in poll() behavior for output,streamsSasha Levin
[ Upstream commit 4623e5967448444a4ea1e77beb58898c4af48693 ] In the 3.17 kernel the poll() behavior changed for output streams: as long as not all buffers were queued up poll() would return that userspace can write. This is fine for the write() call, but when using stream I/O this changed the behavior since the expectation was that it would wait for buffers to become available for dequeuing. This patch only enables the check whether you can queue buffers for file I/O only, and skips it for stream I/O. That buffer is too small for newer firmware versions, which causes device firmware hang - device stops responding to any commands after that. Increase buffer size to 128 which should be enough for any current and future version strings. Commit f61bf13b6a07 ("[media] vb2: add allow_zero_bytesused flag to the vb2_queue struct") added a WARN_ONCE to catch usage of a deprecated API using a zero value for v4l2_buffer.bytesused. However, the condition is checked incorrectly, as the v4L2_buffer bytesused field is supposed to be ignored for multiplanar buffers. This results in spurious warnings when using the multiplanar API. Fix it by checking v4l2_buffer.bytesused for uniplanar buffers and v4l2_plane.bytesused for multiplanar buffers. Since when we start discussions about the usage Media Controller for complex hardware, one thing become clear: the way it is, MC fails to map anything different than capture/output/m2m video-only streaming. The point is that MC has entities named as devnodes, but the only devnode used (before the DVB patches) is MEDIA_ENT_T_DEVNODE_V4L. Due to the way MC got implemented, however, this entity actually doesn't represent the devnode, but the hardware I/O engine that receives data via DMA. By coincidence, such DMA is associated with the V4L device node on webcam hardware, but this is not true even for other V4L2 devices. For example, on USB hardware, the DMA is done via the USB controller. The data passes though a in-kernel filter that strips off the URB headers. Other V4L2 devices like radio may not even have DMA. When it have, the DMA is done via ALSA, and not via the V4L devnode. In other words, MC is broken as a whole, but tagging it as BROKEN right now would do more harm than good. So, instead, let's mark, for now, the DVB part as broken and block all new changes to MC while we fix this mess, whith we hopefully will do for the next Kernel version. 2015-04-27[media] marvell-ccic: fix Y'CbCr orderingHans Verkuil
Various formats had their byte ordering implemented incorrectly, and the V4L2_PIX_FMT_UYVY is actually impossible to create, instead you get V4L2_PIX_FMT_YVYU. This was working before commit ad6ac452227b7cb93ac79beec092850d178740b1 ("add new formats support for marvell-ccic driver"). That commit broke the original format support and the OLPC XO-1 laptop showed wrong colors ever since (if you are crazy enough to attempt to run the latest kernel on it, like I did). The email addresses of the authors of that patch are no longer valid, so without a way to reach them and ask them about their test setup I am going with what I can test on the OLPC laptop. If this breaks something for someone on their non-OLPC setup, then contact the linux-media mailinglist. My suspicion however is that that commit went in untested.
