Apparently, 'count' can be negative here, which will then get turned
into a giant size argument for memcpy. Changing the sizes to 'unsigned
int' instead seems safe as we already check for maximum sizes, and it
also simplifies the code a bit.

[ Upstream commit d7f3e33df4fbdc9855fb151f4a328ec46447e3ba ]
In the case of semi planar formats cb and cr are in the same plane
in memory, meaning that will be set to 'cb' whatever the format is,
and whatever the (packed) order of those components are.

commit 7e09f7d5c790278ab98e5f2c22307ebe8ad6e8ba upstream.
The size of uvc_control_mapping is user controlled leading to a
potential heap overflow in the uvc driver. This adds a check to verify
the user provided size fits within the bounds of the defined buffer
size.

commit 9c7ba1d7634cef490b85bc64c4091ff004821bfd upstream.
Certain syscalls like recvmmsg support 64 bit timespec values for the
X32 ABI. The helper function compat_put_timespec converts a timespec
value to a 32 bit or 64 bit value depending on what ABI is used. The
v4l2 compat layer, however, is not designed to support 64 bit timespec
values and always uses 32 bit values. Hence, compat_put_timespec must
not be used.
Without this patch, user space will be provided with bad timestamp
values from the VIDIOC_DQEVENT ioctl. Also, fields of the struct
v4l2_event32 that come immediately after timestamp get overwritten,
namely the field named id.

commit 9f5039ba440e499d85c29b1ddbc3cbc9dc90e44b upstream.
Since commit e8f4818895b3 ("[media] lirc: advertise
LIRC_CAN_GET_REC_RESOLUTION and improve") lircd uses the ioctl
LIRC_GET_REC_RESOLUTION to determine the shortest pulse or space that
the hardware can detect. This breaks decoding in lirc because lircd
expects the answer in microseconds, but nanoseconds is returned.

commit da05d52d2f0f6bd61094a0cd045fed94bf7d673a upstream.
this patch makes sure VPFE_CMD_S_CCDC_RAW_PARAMS ioctl no longer works
for vpfe_capture driver with a minimal patch suitable for backporting.
- This ioctl was never in public api and was only defined in kernel header.
- The function set_params constantly mixes up pointers and phys_addr_t
numbers.
- This is part of a 'VPFE_CMD_S_CCDC_RAW_PARAMS' ioctl command that is
described as an 'experimental ioctl that will change in future kernels'.
- The code to allocate the table never gets called after we copy_from_user
the user input over the kernel settings, and then compare them
for inequality.
- We then go on to use an address provided by user space as both the
__user pointer for input and pass it through phys_to_virt to come up
with a kernel pointer to copy the data to. This looks like a trivially
exploitable root hole.
Due to these reasons we make sure this ioctl now returns -EINVAL and backport
this patch as far as possible.

commit 4e0973a918b9a42e217093f078e04a61e5dd95a5 upstream.
Setting initial standard at the top of cx8800_initdev would cause the
first call to cx88_set_tvnorm() to return without programming any
registers (leaving the driver saying it's set to NTSC but the hardware
isn't programmed). Even worse, any subsequent attempt to explicitly
set it to NTSC-M will return success but actually fail to program the
underlying registers unless first changing the standard to something
other than NTSC-M.
Set the initial standard later in the process, and make sure the field
is zero at the beginning to ensure that the call always goes through.
This regression was introduced in the following commit:

commit d90b336f3f652ff0441e631a06236f785581c8f7 upstream.
The recent changes in 4.9 to mandate USB buffers be heap allocated
broke this driver, which was allocating the buffers on the stack.
This resulted in the device failing at initialization.
Introduce dedicated send/receive buffers as part of the state
structure, and add a mutex to protect access to them.
Note: we also had to tweak the API to mxl111sf_ctrl_msg to pass
the pointer to the state struct rather than the device, since
we need it inside the function to access the buffers and the
mutex. This patch adjusts the callers to match the API change.

commit a16e37726c444cbda91e73ed5f742e717bfe866f upstream.
Gcc 7.1 complains about:
drivers/media/platform/s5p-jpeg/jpeg-core.c: In function 's5p_jpeg_parse_hdr.isra.9':
drivers/media/platform/s5p-jpeg/jpeg-core.c:1207:12: warning: 'width' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]

drivers/media/platform/s5p-jpeg/jpeg-core.c:1208:12: warning: 'height' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]
result->h = height;
~~~~~~~~~~^~~~~~~~
Indeed the code would allow it to return a random value (although
it shouldn't happen, in practice). So, explicitly set both to zero,
just in case.
commit 5a91206ff0d0548939f3e85a65fb76b400fb0e89 upstream.
When saa7134 module driving a Medion 7134 card is reloaded reads of this
card EEPROM (required for automatic detection of tuner model) will be
corrupted due to I2C gate in DVB-T demod being left closed.
This sometimes also happens on first saa7134 module load after a warm
reboot.
Fix this by opening this I2C gate before doing EEPROM read during i2c
initialization.
commit 6830733d53a4517588e56227b9c8538633f0c496 upstream.
The driver uses a relatively large data structure on the stack, which
showed up on my radar as we get a warning with the "latent entropy"
GCC plugin:
drivers/media/usb/pvrusb2/pvrusb2-eeprom.c:153:1: error: the frame size of 1376 bytes is larger than 1152 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=]
The warning is usually hidden as we raise the warning limit to 2048
when the plugin is enabled, but I'd like to lower that again in the
future, and making this function smaller helps to do that without
build regressions.
Further analysis shows that putting an 'i2c_client' structure on
the stack is not really supported, as the embedded 'struct device'
is not initialized here, and we are only saved by the fact that
the function that is called here does not use the pointer at all.
commit 0c32b8ec02832df167e16ad659cb11dc148f2ddf upstream.
Interrupt routine must wake process waiting for given interrupt AFTER
updating driver's internal structures and contexts. Doing it in-between
is a serious bug. This patch moves all calls to the wake() function to
the end of the interrupt processing block to avoid potential and real
races, especially on multi-core platforms. This also fixes following issue
reported from clock core (clocks were disabled in interrupt after being
unprepared from the other place in the driver, the stack trace however
points to the different place than s5p_mfc driver because of the race):
commit 3f190e3aec212fc8c61e202c51400afa7384d4bc upstream.
Commit 17ce039b4e54 ("[media] cxusb: don't do DMA on stack")
added a kmalloc'ed bounce buffer for writes, but missed to do the same
for reads. As the read only happens after the write is finished, we can
reuse the same buffer.
As dvb_usb_generic_rw handles a read length of 0 by itself, avoid calling
it using the dvb_usb_generic_read wrapper function.
commit 005145378c9ad7575a01b6ce1ba118fb427f583a upstream.
I ran into a stack frame size warning because of the on-stack copy of
the USB device structure:
drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb-v2/dvb_usb_core.c: In function 'dvb_usbv2_disconnect':
drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb-v2/dvb_usb_core.c:1029:1: error: the frame size of 1104 bytes is larger than 1024 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=]
Copying a device structure like this is wrong for a number of other reasons
too aside from the possible stack overflow. One of them is that the
dev_info() call will print the name of the device later, but AFAICT
we have only copied a pointer to the name earlier and the actual name
has been freed by the time it gets printed.
This removes the on-stack copy of the device and instead copies the
device name using kstrdup(). I'm ignoring the possible failure here
as both printk() and kfree() are able to deal with NULL pointers.
[ Upstream commit e950267ab802c8558f1100eafd4087fd039ad634 ]
Some devices have invalid baSourceID references, causing uvc_scan_chain()
to fail, but if we just take the entities we can find and put them
together in the most sensible chain we can think of, turns out they do
work anyway. Note: This heuristic assumes there is a single chain.
At the time of writing, devices known to have such a broken chain are
commit 606142af57dad981b78707234cfbd15f9f7b7125 upstream.
On Kernel 4.9, WARNINGs about doing DMA on stack are hit at
the dw2102 driver: one in su3000_power_ctrl() and the other in tt_s2_4600_frontend_attach().
Both were due to the use of buffers on the stack as parameters to
dvb_usb_generic_rw() and the resulting attempt to do DMA with them.
The device was non-functional as a result.
So, switch this driver over to use a buffer within the device state
structure, as has been done with other DVB-USB drivers.
Tested with TechnoTrend TT-connect S2-4600.
commit f9c85ee67164b37f9296eab3b754e543e4e96a1c upstream.
Reported as a Kaffeine bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375811
The USB control messages require DMA to work. We cannot pass
a stack-allocated buffer, as it is not warranted that the
stack would be into a DMA enabled area.
On Kernel 4.9, the default is to not accept DMA on stack anymore
on x86 architecture. On other architectures, this has been a
requirement since Kernel 2.2. So, after this patch, this driver
should likely work fine on all archs.
commit 79d6205a3f741c9fb89cfc47dfa0eddb1526726d upstream.
The s_stream() handler incorrectly writes the whole MISC_CTL register to
enable or disable the outputs, overriding the output pinmuxing
configuration. Fix it to only touch the output enable bits.
The CONF_SHARED_PIN register is also written by the same function,
resulting in muxing the INTREQ signal instead of the VBLK/GPCL signal on
the INTREQ/GPCL/VBLK pin. As the driver doesn't support interrupts this
is obviously incorrect, and breaks operation on other devices. Fix it by
removing the write.
The FID/GLCO/VLK/HVLK and INTREQ/GPCL/VBLK pins are muxed differently
commit aff808e813fc2d311137754165cf53d4ee6ddcc2 upstream.
The tvp5150 doesn't support format setting through the subdev pad API
and thus implements the set format handler as a get format operation.
The single handler, tvp5150_fill_fmt(), resets the device by calling
tvp5150_reset(). This causes malfunction as the device can be reset at
will, possibly from userspace when the subdev userspace API is enabled.
The reset call was added in commit ec2c4f3f93cb ("[media] media:
tvp5150: Add mbus_fmt callbacks"), probably as an attempt to set the
device to a known state before detecting the current TV standard.
However, the get format handler doesn't access the hardware to get the
TV standard since commit 963ddc63e20d ("[media] media: tvp5150: Add
cropping support"). There is thus no need to reset the device when
getting the format.
However, removing the tvp5150_reset() from the get/set format handlers
results in the function not being called at all if the bridge driver
doesn't use the .reset() operation. The operation is nowadays abused and
shouldn't be used, so shouldn't expect bridge drivers to call it. To
make sure the device is properly initialize, move the reset call from
the format handlers to the probe function.
commit 48775cb73c2e26b7ca9d679875a6e570c8b8e124 upstream.
commit 73d5c5c864f4 ("[media] pctv452e: don't do DMA on stack") caused
a NULL pointer dereference which occurs when dvb_usb_init()
calls dvb_usb_device_power_ctrl() for the first time, before the
frontend has been attached. It also caused a recursive deadlock because
tt3650_ci_msg_locked() has already locked the mutex.
So, partially revert it, but move the buffer to the heap
(DMA capable), not to the stack (may not be DMA capable).
Instead of sharing one buffer which needs mutex protection,
do a new heap allocation for each call.
Fixes: commit 73d5c5c864f4 ("[media] pctv452e: don't do DMA on stack")
