2016-06-29apalis_t30/tk1: igb: no nvm and Ethernet MAC address handlingMarcel Ziswiler
Springville/i211 with a blank Flash/iNVM use different PCI IDs. Extend the driver to load despite i210/i211 data sheets claiming tools only, not for driver. Only warn rather than fail on NVM validation failures on Apalis T30. Revise Ethernet MAC address assignment: should now handle up to two instances of custom user MACs (2nd one with a 0x100000 offset). This way customer does not have to worry about NVM on a secondary Ethernet on the carrier board and still gets a valid official MAC address from us (e.g. analogous to how we did it on our Protea carrier board). Use the Toradex OUI as default MAC address if no valid one is encountered. Tested on samples of Apalis T30 2GB V1.0B, V1.0C, V1.1A, Apalis T30 1GB V1.0A, V1.1A and Apalis T30 1GB IT V1.1A both with blank NVMs as well as iNVMs programmed with Intel's defaults. Tested on samples of Apalis TK1 2GB V1.0A and V1.0B both with blank NVMs as well as iNVMs programmed with Intel's defaults. When jumbo frames are enabled by setting the MTU, the TSO feature must be cleared. This is done indirectly by calling netdev_update_features() which will call tg3_fix_features() to actually clear the flags. netdev_update_features() will also trigger a new netlink message for the feature change event which will result in a call to tg3_get_stats64() which deadlocks on the tg3 lock." tg3_set_mtu() does not need to be under the tg3 lock since converting the flags to use set_bit(). Move it out to after tg3_netif_stop(). This patch is to fix a compiler warning of __bad_udelay due to a value of >999 being passed as a parameter to udelay() in the function e1000e_phy_has_link_generic(). This affects the gcc compiler when it is given a flag of -O3 and the icc compiler. This patch is also making the change from mdelay() to msleep() in the same function, since it was determined though code inspection that this function is never called in atomic context. [ Upstream commit 388d3335575f4c056dcf7138a30f1454e2145cd8 ] The new tg3 driver leaves REG_BASE_ADDR (PCI config offset 120) uninitialized. From power on reset this register may have garbage in it. The Register Base Address register defines the device local address of a register. The data pointed to by this location is read or written using the Register Data register (PCI config offset 128). When REG_BASE_ADDR has garbage any read or write of Register Data Register (PCI 128) will cause the PCI bus to lock up. The TCO watchdog will fire and bring down the system. The Versatile needs and uses the same accessors as the other platforms in the first if(...) clause, just switch it to using that and we have one problem less to worry about. This includes a hunk of a patch from Will Deacon fixin the other 32bit platforms as well: Innokom, Ramses, PXA, PCM027. Checkpatch complains about spacing, but I have opted to follow the style of this .h-file. It does this, but afterwards it either sets up multicast MACs filtering or disables RX of multicasts and resets MACHASH registers again, rendering IFF_ALLMULTI flag useless. This patch fixes emac_dev_mcast_set, so that multicast MACs filtering and disabling of RX of multicasts are skipped when IFF_ALLMULTI flag is set. Tested with kernel 2.6.37. [ Upstream commit 714086029116b6b0a34e67ba1dd2f0d1cf26770c ] This commit fixes a long-standing bug that has been reported by many users: on some Armada 370 platforms, only the network interface that has been used in U-Boot to tftp the kernel works properly in Linux. The other network interfaces can see a 'link up', but are unable to transmit data. The reports were generally made on the Armada 370-based Mirabox, but have also been given on the Armada 370-RD board. The network MAC in the Armada 370/XP (supported by the mvneta driver in Linux) has a functionality that allows it to continuously poll the PHY and directly update the MAC configuration accordingly (speed, duplex, etc.). The very first versions of the driver submitted for review were using this hardware mechanism, but due to this, the driver was not integrated with the kernel phylib. Following reviews, the driver was changed to use the phylib, and therefore a software based polling. In software based polling, Linux regularly talks to the PHY over the MDIO bus, and sees if the link status has changed. If it's the case then the adjust_link() callback of the driver is called to update the MAC configuration accordingly. However, it turns out that the adjust_link() callback was not configuring the hardware in a completely correct way: while it was setting the speed and duplex bits correctly, it wasn't telling the hardware to actually take into account those bits rather than what the hardware-based PHY polling mechanism has concluded. So, in fact the adjust_link() callback was basically a no-op. However, the network happened to be working because on the network interfaces used by U-Boot for tftp on Armada 370 platforms because the hardware PHY polling was enabled by the bootloader, and left enabled by Linux. However, the second network interface not used for tftp (or both network interfaces if the kernel is loaded from USB, NAND or SD card) didn't had the hardware PHY polling enabled. This patch fixes this situation by: (1) Making sure that the hardware PHY polling is disabled by clearing the MVNETA_PHY_POLLING_ENABLE bit in the MVNETA_UNIT_CONTROL register in the driver ->probe() function. (2) Making sure that the duplex and speed selections made by the adjust_link() callback are taken into account by clearing the MVNETA_GMAC_AN_SPEED_EN and MVNETA_GMAC_AN_DUPLEX_EN bits in the MVNETA_GMAC_AUTONEG_CONFIG register. This patch has been tested on Armada 370 Mirabox, and now both network interfaces are usable after boot. [ Upstream commit 6e1f99757a2b24b7255263b2240a0eb04215174d ] commit fba875591 ("disable TX in be_close()") disabled TX in be_close() to protect be_xmit() from touching freed up queues in the AER recovery flow. But, TX must be disabled *before* cleaning up TX completions in the close() path, not after. This allows be_tx_compl_clean() to free up all TX-req skbs that were notified to the HW. 2013-09-14sfc: Fix lookup of default RX MAC filters when steered using ethtoolBen Hutchings
[ Upstream commit f3851b0acc5a75bd33c6d344a2e4f920e1622ff0 ] commit 385904f819e3 ('sfc: Don't use efx_filter_{build,hash,increment}() for default MAC filters') used the wrong name to find the index of default RX MAC filters at insertion/ update time. This could result in memory corruption and would in any case silently fail to update the filter.
