commit 31b9cc9a873dcab161999622314f98a75d838975 upstream.
Jason noticed that with Yocto GCC 4.8.1 ath6kl crashes with this iperf command:
iperf -c $TARGET_IP -i 5 -t 50 -w 1M
The crash was:

Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception
Jason's analysis:
"The GCC 4.8.1 compiler will not do the for-loop till scat_entries, instead,
it only run one round loop. This may be caused by that the GCC 4.8.1 thought
that the scat_list only have one item and then no need to do full iteration,
but this is simply wrong by looking at the assebly code. This will cause the sg
buffer not get set when scat_entries > 1 and thus lead to kernel panic.
Note: This issue not observed with GCC 4.7.2, only found on the GCC 4.8.1)"
Fix this by using the normal [0] style for defining unknown number of list
entries following the struct. This also fixes corruption with scat_q_depth, which
was mistankely added to the end of struct and overwritten if there were more
than item in the scat list.

commit 8bfae4f9938b6c1f033a5159febe97e441d6d526 upstream.
Sometimes while CPU have some load and ath5k doing the wireless
interface reset the whole WiSoC completely freezes. Set of tests shows
that using atomic delay function while we wait interface reset helps to
avoid such freezes.
The easiest way to reproduce this issue: create a station interface,
start continous scan with wpa_supplicant and load CPU by something. Or
just create multiple station interfaces and put them all in continous
scan.
This patch partially reverts the commit 1846ac3dbec0 ("ath5k: Use
usleep_range where possible"), which replaces initial udelay()
by usleep_range().
I do not know actual source of this issue, but all looks like that HW
freeze is caused by transaction on internal SoC bus, while wireless
block is in reset state.
Also I should note that I do not know how many chips are affected, but I
did not see this issue with chips, other than AR5312.

commit 9e4982f6a51a2442f1bb588fee42521b44b4531c upstream.
Like with ath9k, ath5k queues also need to be ordered by priority.
queue_info->tqi_subtype already contains the correct index, so use it
instead of relying on the order of ath5k_hw_setup_tx_queue calls.

commit ad8fdccf9c197a89e2d2fa78c453283dcc2c343f upstream.
The driver passes the desired hardware queue index for a WMM data queue
in qinfo->tqi_subtype. This was ignored in ath9k_hw_setuptxqueue, which
instead relied on the order in which the function is called.

commit 4e6ce4dc7ce71d0886908d55129d5d6482a27ff9 upstream.
Based on the reference clock, which could be 25MHz or 40MHz,
AR_RTC_DERIVED_CLK is programmed differently for AR9340 and AR9550.
But, when a chip reset is done, processing the initvals
sets the register back to the default value.
Fix this by moving the code in ath9k_hw_init_pll() to
ar9003_hw_override_ini(). Also, do this override for AR9531.

commit 671796dd96b6cd85b75fba9d3007bcf7e5f7c309 upstream.
The driver assumes that endpoint 4 is always an interrupt endpoint.
Unfortunately the type differs between high-speed and full-speed
configurations while in the former case it is indeed an interrupt
endpoint this is not true for the latter case - here it is a bulk
endpoint. When sending URBs with the wrong type the kernel will
generate a warning message including backtrace. In this specific
case there will be a huge amount of warnings which can bring the system
to freeze.
To fix this we are now sending URBs to endpoint 4 using the type
found in the endpoint descriptor.
A side note: The carl9170 firmware currently specifies endpoint 4 as
interrupt endpoint even in the full-speed configuration but this has
no relevance because before this firmware is loaded the endpoint type
is as described above and after the firmware is running the stick is not
reenumerated and so the old descriptor is used.

commit c01fac1c77a00227f706a1654317023e3f4ac7f0 upstream.
If an aggregation session fails, frames still end up in the driver queue
with IEEE80211_TX_CTL_AMPDU set.
This causes tx for the affected station/tid to stall, since
ath_tx_get_tid_subframe returning packets to send.
Fix this by clearing IEEE80211_TX_CTL_AMPDU as long as no aggregation
session is running.

commit 3b3e0efb5c72c4fc940af50b33626b8a78a907dc upstream.
qi->tqi_readyTime is written directly to registers that expect
microseconds as unit instead of TU.
When setting the CABQ ready time, cur_conf->beacon_interval is in TU, so
convert it to microseconds before passing it to ath9k_hw.
This should hopefully fix some Tx DMA issues with buffered multicast
frames in AP mode.

Since commit 558ff225de80ac95b132d3a115ddadcd64498b4f (ath9k: fix
ps-poll responses under a-mpdu sessions) non-data frames would have
gotten a sequence number from a TIDs sequence counter instead of
using the global sequence counter.
This can lead to instable connections.
To fix this only select the correct TID if we are processing a
data frame. Furthermore, prevent non-data frames to get a sequence
number from a TID sequence counter by adding a check to
ath_tx_setup_buffer.

Only set sc->rx.discard_next to rx_stats->rs_more when actually
discarding the current descriptor.
Also, fix a detection of broken descriptors:
First the code checks if the current descriptor is not done.
Then it checks if the next descriptor is done.
Add a check that afterwards checks the first descriptor again, because
it might have been completed in the mean time.
This fixes a regression introduced in

When passing tx frames to the U-APSD queue for powersave poll responses,
the ath_atx_tid pointer needs to be passed to ath_tx_setup_buffer for
proper sequence number accounting.

The minimum CCA power threshold values have to be adjusted
for existing cards to be in compliance with new regulations.
Newer cards will make use of the values obtained from EEPROM,
support for this was added earlier. To make sure that cards
that are already in use and don't have proper values in EEPROM,
do not violate regulations, use the initvals instead.

PS could be enabled by userspace based on various factors
like battery usage etc. Since PS in ath9k is just broken
and has been untested for years, remove support for it, but
allow a user to explicitly enable it using a module parameter.

mac80211 ->sta_rc_update() callback must be atomic. Since we have to
take mutex and do other operations that can sleep when sending fimrware
commands to device, the only option to satisfy atomicity requirement of
->sta_rc_update(), that I can see, is introduce work_struct and defer
uploading new rates to that work.

sta_rc_update() callback must be atomic, hence we can not take mutexes
or do other operations, which can sleep in ath9k_htc_sta_rc_update().
I think we can just return from ath9k_htc_sta_rc_update(), if it is
called without IEEE80211_RC_SUPP_RATES_CHANGED bit. That will help
with scheduling while atomic bug for most cases (except mesh and IBSS
modes).
For mesh and IBSS I do not see other solution like creating additional
workqueue, because sending firmware command require us to sleep, but
this can be done in additional patch.
Patch partially fixes bug:

This patch will also change behavior of rx_beacons statistic.
Instead of collecting all received beacons, it will collect only
ours. This, IMO make more sense, since for troubleshooting we will

Global Transmission Timeout interrupts are generated by
the HW when transmission of a frame fails - this is done
based on the threshold programmed in the AR_GTXTO register.
Currently, even though the interrupt is enabled for all chips,
it is not handled in the driver. This patch handles GTT events
for AR9003 and above chips, checking if the MAC/BB has hung
after successive GTT interrupts crosses a threshold (5).
This can be enabled for the older chips in the AR9002 family once
appropriate HW hang checks are implemented for them.

The REGULATORY_CUSTOM_REG can be used during early init with
the goal of overriding the wiphy's default regulatory settings
in case the alpha2 of the device is not known. In the case that
the alpha2 becomes known lets avoid having drivers having to
clear the REGULATORY_CUSTOM_REG flag by doing it for them
when regulatory_hint() is used.

ath wants to first apply the custom regd and only later
will it revert to not using it if an alpha2 regulatory
domain is found. Since the wireless core now enforces
usage of the REGULATORY_CUSTOM_REG strictly when
wiphy_apply_custom_regulatory() is used this makes
ath adhere to the expected behaviour but also updates
the wiphy after its done with the custom usage.
