2016-08-16cdc_ncm: do not call usbnet_link_change from cdc_ncm_bindBjørn Mork
commit 4d06dd537f95683aba3651098ae288b7cbff8274 upstream. usbnet_link_change will call schedule_work and should be avoided if bind is failing. Otherwise we will end up with scheduled work referring to a netdev which has gone away. Instead of making the call conditional, we can just defer it to usbnet_probe, using the driver_info flag made for this purpose. 2016-08-10net: mvneta: set real interrupt per packet for tx_doneDmitri Epshtein
commit 06708f81528725148473c0869d6af5f809c6824b upstream. Commit aebea2ba0f74 ("net: mvneta: fix Tx interrupt delay") intended to set coalescing threshold to a value guaranteeing interrupt generation per each sent packet, so that buffers can be released with no delay. In fact setting threshold to '1' was wrong, because it causes interrupt every two packets. According to the documentation a reason behind it is following - interrupt occurs once sent buffers counter reaches a value, which is higher than one specified in MVNETA_TXQ_SIZE_REG(q). This behavior was confirmed during tests. Also when testing the SoC working as a NAS device, better performance was observed with int-per-packet, as it strongly depends on the fact that all transmitted packets are released immediately. This commit enables NETA controller work in interrupt per sent packet mode by setting coalescing threshold to 0. 2016-08-10can: c_can: Update D_CAN TX and RX functions to 32 bit - fix Altera Cyclone ↵Thor Thayer

When testing CAN write floods on Altera's CycloneV, the first 2 bytes are sometimes 0x00, 0x00 or corrupted instead of the values sent. Also observed bytes 4 & 5 were corrupted in some cases. The D_CAN Data registers are 32 bits and changing from 16 bit writes to 32 bit writes fixes the problem. Testing performed on Altera CycloneV (D_CAN). Requesting tests on other C_CAN & D_CAN platforms. 2016-07-27cdc_ncm: workaround for EM7455 "silent" data interfaceBjørn Mork
[ Upstream commit c086e7096170390594c425114d98172bc9aceb8a ] Several Lenovo users have reported problems with their Sierra Wireless EM7455 modem. The driver has loaded successfully and the MBIM management channel has appeared to work, including establishing a connection to the mobile network. But no frames have been received over the data interface. The problem affects all EM7455 and MC7455, and is assumed to affect other modems based on the same Qualcomm chipset and baseband firmware. Testing narrowed the problem down to what seems to be a firmware timing bug during initialization. Adding a short sleep while probing is sufficient to make the problem disappear. Experiments have shown that 1-2 ms is too little to have any effect, while 10-20 ms is enough to reliably succeed. This patch will apply rx skb with 64 bytes longer space, and if the allocated skb has a 0x...fc0 address, it will use skb_resever(skb, 64) to advance the address, so that the RX overflow can be avoided. 2016-07-11net: macb: fix default configuration for GMAC on AT91Nicolas Ferre
[ Upstream commit 6bdaa5e9ed39b3b3328f35d218e8ad5a99cfc4d2 ] On AT91 SoCs, the User Register (USRIO) exposes a switch to configure the "Reduced" or "Traditional" version of the Media Independent Interface (RMII vs. MII or RGMII vs. GMII). As on the older EMAC version, on GMAC, this switch is set by default to the non-reduced type of interface, so use the existing capability and extend it to GMII as well. We then keep the current logic in the macb_init() function. The capabilities of sama5d2, sama5d4 and sama5d3 GEM interface are updated in the macb_config structure to be able to properly enable them with a traditional interface (GMII or MII). 2016-06-24vxlan, gre, geneve: Set a large MTU on ovs-created tunnel devicesDavid Wragg
[ Upstream commit 7e059158d57b79159eaf1f504825d19866ef2c42 ] Prior to 4.3, openvswitch tunnel vports (vxlan, gre and geneve) could transmit vxlan packets of any size, constrained only by the ability to send out the resulting packets. 4.3 introduced netdevs corresponding to tunnel vports. These netdevs have an MTU, which limits the size of a packet that can be successfully encapsulated. The default MTU values are low (1500 or less), which is awkwardly small in the context of physical networks supporting jumbo frames, and leads to a conspicuous change in behaviour for userspace. Instead, set the MTU on openvswitch-created netdevs to be the relevant maximum (i.e. the maximum IP packet size minus any relevant overhead), effectively restoring the behaviour prior to 4.3. [ Upstream commit 55e5bfb53cff286c1c1ff49f51325dc15c7fea63 ] Allow the MTU of geneve devices to be set to large values, in order to exploit underlying networks with larger frame sizes. GENEVE does not have a fixed encapsulation overhead (an openvswitch rule can add variable length options), so there is no relevant maximum MTU to enforce. A maximum of IP_MAX_MTU is used instead. [ Upstream commit 72564b59ffc438ea103b0727a921aaddce766728 ] Allow the MTU of vxlan devices without an underlying device to be set to larger values (up to a maximum based on IP packet limits and vxlan overhead). Previously, their MTUs could not be set to higher than the conventional ethernet value of 1500. This is a very arbitrary value in the context of vxlan, and prevented vxlan devices from being able to take advantage of jumbo frames etc. The default MTU remains 1500, for compatibility. 2016-06-24team: don't call netdev_change_features under team->lockIvan Vecera
[ Upstream commit f6988cb63a4e698d8a62a1d085d263d1fcc351ea ] The team_device_event() notifier calls team_compute_features() to fix vlan_features under team->lock to protect team->port_list. The problem is that subsequent __team_compute_features() calls netdev_change_features() to propagate vlan_features to upper vlan devices while team->lock is still taken. This can lead to deadlock when NETIF_F_LRO is modified on lower devices or team device itself. Example: The team0 as active backup with eth0 and eth1 NICs. Both eth0 & eth1 are LRO capable and LRO is enabled. Thus LRO is also enabled on team0. The callbacks are responsible for correctly verifying and dropping the packets. Also, in case the header validation fails for geneve and vxlan we shouldn't put the skb back into the socket queue, no one will pick them up there. 2016-06-24tuntap: correctly wake up process during uninitJason Wang
[ Upstream commit addf8fc4acb1cf79492ac64966f07178793cb3d7 ] We used to check dev->reg_state against NETREG_REGISTERED after each time we are woke up. But after commit 9e641bdcfa4e ("net-tun: restructure tun_do_read for better sleep/wakeup efficiency"), it uses skb_recv_datagram() which does not check dev->reg_state. This will result if we delete a tun/tap device after a process is blocked in the reading. The device will wait for the reference count which was held by that process for ever. Fixes this by using RCV_SHUTDOWN which will be checked during sk_recv_datagram() before trying to wake up the process during uninit. 2016-06-24switchdev: pass pointer to fib_info instead of copyJiri Pirko
[ Upstream commit da4ed55165d41b1073f9a476f1c18493e9bf8c8e ] The problem is that fib_info->nh is [0] so the struct fib_info allocation size depends on number of nexthops. If we just copy fib_info, we do not copy the nexthops info and driver accesses memory which is not ours. Given the fact that fib4 does not defer operations and therefore it does not need copy, just pass the pointer down to drivers as it was done before. We can't use kfree_skb in irq disable context, because spin_lock_irqsave make sure we are always in irq disable context, use dev_kfree_skb_irq instead of kfree_skb is better than dev_kfree_skb_any. 2016-06-07rtlwifi: rtl8723be: Add antenna select module parameterLarry Finger

In principle, this is OK; however, a problem arises when the on-board EEPROM is programmed to use the other antenna connection. The option of opening the computer and moving the connector is not always possible as it will void the warranty in some cases. In addition, this solution breaks the Windows driver when the box dual boots Linux and Windows. A fix involving a new module parameter has been developed. This commit adds the new parameter and implements the changes needed for the driver. 2016-06-07ath10k: fix rx_channel during hw reconfigureRajkumar Manoharan
commit 1ce8c1484e80010a6e4b9611c65668ff77556f45 upstream. Upon firmware assert, restart work will be triggered so that mac80211 will reconfigure the driver. An issue is reported that after restart work, survey dump data do not contain in-use (SURVEY_INFO_IN_USE) info for operating channel. During reconfigure, since mac80211 already has valid channel context for given radio, channel context iteration return num_chanctx > 0. Hence rx_channel is always NULL. Fix this by assigning channel context to rx_channel when driver restart is in progress. Configuring NSS upon monitor interface creation is causing target assert in all qca9888x and qca6174 firmware. As described in 'can: m_can: tag current CAN FD controllers as non-ISO' (6cfda7fbebe) it is possible to define fixed configuration options by setting the according bit in 'ctrlmode' and clear it in 'ctrlmode_supported'. This leads to the incovenience that the fixed configuration bits can not be passed by netlink even when they have the correct values (e.g. non-ISO, FD). This patch fixes that issue and not only allows fixed set bit values to be set again but now requires(!) to provide these fixed values at configuration time. A valid CAN FD configuration consists of a nominal/arbitration bittiming, a data bittiming and a control mode with CAN_CTRLMODE_FD set - which is now enforced by a new can_validate() function. This fix additionally removed the inconsistency that was prohibiting the support of 'CANFD-only' controller drivers, like the RCar CAN FD. For this reason a new helper can_set_static_ctrlmode() has been introduced to provide a proper interface to handle static enabled CAN controller options. We found the issue also was reproducible on a x86_64 system, using a "high-speed" USB2.0 port but the throughput did not measurably drop (possibly due to the scp transfer being cpu bound on my slow test hardware). After lots of debugging, I found the check added in the problematic commit seems to be calculating the offset incorrectly. In the normal case, in the main loop of the function, we do: (where offset is zero, or set to "offset += (copy_length + 1) & 0xfffe" in the previous loop) rx->header = get_unaligned_le32(skb->data + offset); offset += sizeof(u32); But the problematic patch calculates: offset = ((rx->remaining + 1) & 0xfffe) + sizeof(u32); rx->header = get_unaligned_le32(skb->data + offset); Adding some debug logic to check those offset calculation used to find rx->header, the one in problematic code is always too large by sizeof(u32). This resulted in not reading any packets in the next napi turn and so packets were delayed or lost. The obvious fix is to only clear a queue's bit when the queue was emptied. This bug was originally harmless since the driver does not claim to implement checksum offload and that used to be a requirement for SG. Now that SG and checksum offload are independent features, if you explicitly enable SG *and* use one of the rare protocols that can use SG without checkusm offload, this potentially leaks sensitive information (before you notice that it just isn't working). Therefore this obscure bug has been designated CVE-2016-2117. This is an m.2 form factor modem with no obvious relationship to the E3372 (12d1:157d) we already have a quirk entry for. This is reason enough to believe the quirk might be necessary for any number of current and future Huawei devices. Applying the quirk to all Huawei devices, since it is crucial to any device affected by the firmware bug, while the impact on non-affected devices is negligible. Using device_init_wakeup() to initialize dev->power.should_wakeup and dev->power.can_wakeup on driver initialization. And use device_may_wakeup() on suspend to decide if WoL function should be enabled on NIC. This causes a memory leak since the paging download buffer is allocated every time we enable the interface, so the download buffer can be allocated many times, but only be freed once. Free paging download buffer during disabling of the interface.
