There are some new video switch keys that used by newer machines. 0xA0 - SDSP HDMI only 0xA1 - SDSP LCD + HDMI 0xA2 - SDSP CRT + HDMI 0xA3 - SDSP TV + HDMI But in Linux, there is no suitable userspace application to handle this, so, mapping them all to KEY_SWITCHVIDEOMODE. 2012-08-10asus-wmi: use ASUS_WMI_METHODID_DSTS2 as default DSTS ID.Alex Hung
commit 63a78bb1051b240417daad3a3fa9c1bb10646dca upstream. According to responses from the BIOS team, ASUS_WMI_METHODID_DSTS2 (0x53545344) will be used as future DSTS ID. In addition, calling asus_wmi_evaluate_method(ASUS_WMI_METHODID_DSTS2, 0, 0, NULL) returns ASUS_WMI_UNSUPPORTED_METHOD in new ASUS laptop PCs. This patch fixes no DSTS ID will be assigned in this case. 2012-07-25samsung-laptop: make the dmi check less strictCorentin Chary
commit 3be324a94df0c3f032178d04549dbfbf6cccb09a upstream. This enable the driver for everything that look like a laptop and is from vendor "SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.". Note that laptop supported by samsung-q10 seem to have a different vendor strict. Also remove every log output until we know that we have a SABI interface (except if the driver is forced to load, or debug is enabled). Keeping a whitelist of laptop with a model granularity is something that can't work without close vendor cooperation (and we don't have that). 2012-05-31sony-laptop: Enable keyboard backlight by defaultJosh Boyer
commit 6fe6ae56a7cebaebc2e6daa11c423e4692f9b592 upstream. When the keyboard backlight support was originally added, the commit said to default it to on with a 10 second timeout. That actually wasn't the case, as the default value is commented out for the kbd_backlight parameter. Because it is a static variable, it gets set to 0 by default without some other form of initialization. However, it seems the function to set the value wasn't actually called immediately, so whatever state the keyboard was in initially would remain. Then commit df410d522410e67660 was introduced during the 2.6.39 timeframe to immediately set whatever value was present (as well as attempt to restore/reset the state on module removal or resume). That seems to have now forced the light off immediately when the module is loaded unless the option kbd_backlight=1 is specified. Let's enable it by default again (for the first time). 2012-03-19acer-wmi: No wifi rfkill on Lenovo machinesIke Panhc
commit 461e74377cfcfc2c0d6bbdfa8fc5fbc21b052c2a upstream. We have several reports which says acer-wmi is loaded on ideapads and register rfkill for wifi which can not be unblocked. Since ideapad-laptop also register rfkill for wifi and it works reliably, it will be fine acer-wmi is not going to register rfkill for wifi once VPC2004 is found. Also put IBM0068/LEN0068 in the list. Though thinkpad_acpi has no wifi rfkill capability, there are reports which says acer-wmi also block wireless on Thinkpad E520/E420. 2011-12-05toshiba_acpi: Fix machines that don't support HCI_SYSTEM_EVENTSeth Forshee
The Satellite C670-10V generates notifications for hotkeys but does not support HCI_SYSTEM_EVENT. As a result when a hotkey is pressed it gets stuck in an infinite loop in toshiba_acpi_notify. To fix this, detect whether or not HCI_SYSTEM_EVENT is supported up-front and don't try to read system events if it isn't supported. In addition, limit the number of retries when reading HCI_SYSTEM_EVENT fails so that this loop cannot run unbounded. The driver doesn't check the result and directly uses it as some sort of divisor in some places: msleep(lis3->pwron_delay / lis3lv02d_get_odr()); Under this circumstances, this could very well cause the "divide by zero" exception from above. For now, I fixed it the easiest and most obvious way: Check if the result is sane and if it isn't use a sane default instead. I went for "100" in the latter case, simply because /sys/devices/platform/lis3lv02d/rate returns it on a successful boot. There have new acer notebooks' BIOS provide new WMID_GUID3 and ACERWMID_EVENT_GUID methods. Some of machines still keep the old WMID_GUID1 method but more and more machines were already removed old wmi methods from DSDT. So, this patch add a new ACER_WMID_v2 interface flag to represent new acer notebooks, the following is definition: + ACER_WMID: It means this machine only provides WMID_GUID1/2 methods. + ACER_WMID_v2: It means this machine provide new WMID_GUID3 and WMID_EVENT_GUID methods. Some ACER_WMID_v2 machines also provide old WMID_GUID1/2 methods, but we still query/set communication device's state by new WMID_GUID3 method. 2011-10-24asus-laptop: Add rfkill support for Pegatron Lucid tabletAnisse Astier
Add three new rfkill switches in this driver that are specific to Pegatron Lucid tablet. Please note that you might not need all three switches. For example if you don't have a 3G module inside your tablet. Also, on my device, the gpio for the wifi/bt module is connected to the bluetooth line. Therefore to activate your wireless lan interface, you need to use the "pega-bt" rfkill switch. Finally, the rfkill switch only works before the wireless module is loaded the first time. Unloading ath9k doesn't help, a reboot is necessary. Novo key is the Lenovo define key on every ideapads, which has two definition. Long press and short click. Driver will report KEY_PROG1 on short click and KEY_PROG2 when long press. On pre-install OS for ideapads there are application waiting for the event and there is no such application for Linux yet, so I think to report KEY_PROG is fine in anyway. Also change the scancode from hex to decimal because they are related to vpc bit in notify function which is in decimal.
