2018-09-05vti6: fix PMTU caching and reporting on xmitEyal Birger
[ Upstream commit d6990976af7c5d8f55903bfb4289b6fb030bf754 ] When setting the skb->dst before doing the MTU check, the route PMTU caching and reporting is done on the new dst which is about to be released. Instead, PMTU handling should be done using the original dst. This is aligned with IPv4 VTI. Fixes: ccd740cbc6 ("vti6: Add pmtu handling to vti6_xmit.") [ Upstream commit d376bef9c29b3c65aeee4e785fffcd97ef0a9a81 ] nft_compat relies on xt_request_find_match to increment refcount of the module that provides the match/target. The (builtin) icmp matches did't set the module owner so it was possible to rmmod ip(6)tables while icmp extensions were still in use. 2018-08-24ipv6: mcast: fix unsolicited report interval after receiving querysHangbin Liu
[ Upstream commit 6c6da92808442908287fae8ebb0ca041a52469f4 ] After recieving MLD querys, we update idev->mc_maxdelay with max_delay from query header. This make the later unsolicited reports have the same interval with mc_maxdelay, which means we may send unsolicited reports with long interval time instead of default configured interval time. Also as we will not call ipv6_mc_reset() after device up. This issue will be there even after leave the group and join other groups. 2018-08-24netfilter: ipv6: nf_defrag: reduce struct net memory wasteEric Dumazet
[ Upstream commit 9ce7bc036ae4cfe3393232c86e9e1fea2153c237 ] It is a waste of memory to use a full "struct netns_sysctl_ipv6" while only one pointer is really used, considering netns_sysctl_ipv6 keeps growing. Also, since "struct netns_frags" has cache line alignment, it is better to move the frags_hdr pointer outside, otherwise we spend a full cache line for this pointer. This saves 192 bytes of memory per netns. 2018-08-15ipv4+ipv6: Make INET*_ESP select CRYPTO_ECHAINIVThomas Egerer
commit 32b6170ca59ccf07d0e394561e54b2cd9726038c upstream. The ESP algorithms using CBC mode require echainiv. Hence INET*_ESP have to select CRYPTO_ECHAINIV in order to work properly. This solves the issues caused by a misconfiguration as described in [1]. The original approach, patching crypto/Kconfig was turned down by Herbert Xu [2]. 2018-07-28ip: hash fragments consistentlyPaolo Abeni
[ Upstream commit 3dd1c9a1270736029ffca670e9bd0265f4120600 ] The skb hash for locally generated ip[v6] fragments belonging to the same datagram can vary in several circumstances: * for connected UDP[v6] sockets, the first fragment get its hash via set_owner_w()/skb_set_hash_from_sk() * for unconnected IPv6 UDPv6 sockets, the first fragment can get its hash via ip6_make_flowlabel()/skb_get_hash_flowi6(), if auto_flowlabel is enabled For the following frags the hash is usually computed via skb_get_hash(). The above can cause OoO for unconnected IPv6 UDPv6 socket: in that scenario the egress tx queue can be selected on a per packet basis via the skb hash. It may also fool flow-oriented schedulers to place fragments belonging to the same datagram in different flows. Fix the issue by copying the skb hash from the head frag into the others at fragmentation time. 2018-07-03tcp: verify the checksum of the first data segment in a new connectionFrank van der Linden
[ Upstream commit 4fd44a98ffe0d048246efef67ed640fdf2098a62 ] commit 079096f103fa ("tcp/dccp: install syn_recv requests into ehash table") introduced an optimization for the handling of child sockets created for a new TCP connection. But this optimization passes any data associated with the last ACK of the connection handshake up the stack without verifying its checksum, because it calls tcp_child_process(), which in turn calls tcp_rcv_state_process() directly. These lower-level processing functions do not do any checksum verification. Insert a tcp_checksum_complete call in the TCP_NEW_SYN_RECEIVE path to fix this. 2018-04-13net/ipv6: Increment OUTxxx counters after netfilter hookJeff Barnhill
[ Upstream commit 71a1c915238c970cd9bdd5bf158b1279d6b6d55b ] At the end of ip6_forward(), IPSTATS_MIB_OUTFORWDATAGRAMS and IPSTATS_MIB_OUTOCTETS are incremented immediately before the NF_HOOK call for NFPROTO_IPV6 / NF_INET_FORWARD. As a result, these counters get incremented regardless of whether or not the netfilter hook allows the packet to continue being processed. This change increments the counters in ip6_forward_finish() so that it will not happen if the netfilter hook chooses to terminate the packet, which is similar to how IPv4 works. 2018-04-13net/ipv6: Fix route leaking between VRFsDavid Ahern
[ Upstream commit b6cdbc85234b072340b8923e69f49ec293f905dc ] Donald reported that IPv6 route leaking between VRFs is not working. The root cause is the strict argument in the call to rt6_lookup when validating the nexthop spec. ip6_route_check_nh validates the gateway and device (if given) of a route spec. It in turn could call rt6_lookup (e.g., lookup in a given table did not succeed so it falls back to a full lookup) and if so sets the strict argument to 1. That means if the egress device is given, the route lookup needs to return a result with the same device. This strict requirement does not work with VRFs (IPv4 or IPv6) because the oif in the flow struct is overridden with the index of the VRF device to trigger a match on the l3mdev rule and force the lookup to its table. The right long term solution is to add an l3mdev index to the flow struct such that the oif is not overridden. That solution will not backport well, so this patch aims for a simpler solution to relax the strict argument if the route spec device is an l3mdev slave. As done in other places, use the FLOWI_FLAG_SKIP_NH_OIF to know that the RT6_LOOKUP_F_IFACE flag needs to be removed. 2018-04-13ipv6: avoid dad-failures for addresses with NODADMahesh Bandewar
[ Upstream commit 66eb9f86e50547ec2a8ff7a75997066a74ef584b ] Every address gets added with TENTATIVE flag even for the addresses with IFA_F_NODAD flag and dad-work is scheduled for them. During this DAD process we realize it's an address with NODAD and complete the process without sending any probe. However the TENTATIVE flags stays on the address for sometime enough to cause misinterpretation when we receive a NS. While processing NS, if the address has TENTATIVE flag, we mark it DADFAILED and endup with an address that was originally configured as NODAD with DADFAILED. We can't avoid scheduling dad_work for addresses with NODAD but we can avoid adding TENTATIVE flag to avoid this racy situation. Ben writes that there are a number of follow-on patches needed to fix this up, but they get complex to backport, and some custom fixes are needed, so let's just revert this and wait for a "real" set of patches to resolve this to be submitted if it is really needed. 2018-03-24ip6_vti: adjust vti mtu according to mtu of lower deviceAlexey Kodanev
[ Upstream commit 53c81e95df1793933f87748d36070a721f6cb287 ] LTP/udp6_ipsec_vti tests fail when sending large UDP datagrams over ip6_vti that require fragmentation and the underlying device has an MTU smaller than 1500 plus some extra space for headers. This happens because ip6_vti, by default, sets MTU to ETH_DATA_LEN and not updating it depending on a destination address or link parameter. Further attempts to send UDP packets may succeed because pmtu gets updated on ICMPV6_PKT_TOOBIG in vti6_err(). In case the lower device has larger MTU size, e.g. 9000, ip6_vti works but not using the possible maximum size, output packets have 1500 limit. The above cases require manual MTU setup after ip6_vti creation. However ip_vti already updates MTU based on lower device with ip_tunnel_bind_dev(). Here is the example when the lower device MTU is set to 9000: # ip a sh ltp_ns_veth2 ltp_ns_veth2@if7: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 9000 ... inet 10.0.0.2/24 scope global ltp_ns_veth2 inet6 fd00::2/64 scope global # ip li add vti6 type vti6 local fd00::2 remote fd00::1 # ip li show vti6 vti6@NONE: <POINTOPOINT,NOARP> mtu 1500 ... link/tunnel6 fd00::2 peer fd00::1 After the patch: # ip li add vti6 type vti6 local fd00::2 remote fd00::1 # ip li show vti6 vti6@NONE: <POINTOPOINT,NOARP> mtu 8832 ... link/tunnel6 fd00::2 peer fd00::1 Reported-by: Petr Vorel <pvorel@suse.cz> Signed-off-by: Alexey Kodanev <alexey.kodanev@oracle.com> Signed-off-by: David S. commit ae0ac0ed6fcf5af3be0f63eb935f483f44a402d2 upstream. instead of allocating each xt_counter individually, allocate 4k chunks and then use these for counter allocation requests. This should speed up rule evaluation by increasing data locality, also speeds up ruleset loading because we reduce calls to the percpu allocator. 2018-03-18netfilter: add back stackpointer size checksFlorian Westphal
commit 57ebd808a97d7c5b1e1afb937c2db22beba3c1f8 upstream. The rationale for removing the check is only correct for rulesets generated by ip(6)tables. In iptables, a jump can only occur to a user-defined chain, i.e. because we size the stack based on number of user-defined chains we cannot exceed stack size. However, the underlying binary format has no such restriction, and the validation step only ensures that the jump target is a valid rule start point. IOW, its possible to build a rule blob that has no user-defined chains but does contain a jump. If this happens, no jump stack gets allocated and crash occurs because no jumpstack was allocated. 2018-03-11udplite: fix partial checksum initializationAlexey Kodanev
[ Upstream commit 15f35d49c93f4fa9875235e7bf3e3783d2dd7a1b ] Since UDP-Lite is always using checksum, the following path is triggered when calculating pseudo header for it: udp4_csum_init() or udp6_csum_init() skb_checksum_init_zero_check() __skb_checksum_validate_complete() The problem can appear if skb->len is less than CHECKSUM_BREAK. In this particular case __skb_checksum_validate_complete() also invokes __skb_checksum_complete(skb). If UDP-Lite is using partial checksum that covers only part of a packet, the function will return bad checksum and the packet will be dropped. It can be fixed if we skip skb_checksum_init_zero_check() and only set the required pseudo header checksum for UDP-Lite with partial checksum before udp4_csum_init()/udp6_csum_init() functions return. 2018-03-11ipv6 sit: work around bogus gcc-8 -Wrestrict warningArnd Bergmann
[ Upstream commit ca79bec237f5809a7c3c59bd41cd0880aa889966 ] gcc-8 has a new warning that detects overlapping input and output arguments in memcpy(). It triggers for sit_init_net() calling ipip6_tunnel_clone_6rd(), which is actually correct: net/ipv6/sit.c: In function 'sit_init_net': net/ipv6/sit.c:192:3: error: 'memcpy' source argument is the same as destination [-Werror=restrict] The problem here is that the logic detecting the memcpy() arguments finds them to be the same, but the conditional that tests for the input and output of ipip6_tunnel_clone_6rd() to be identical is not a compile-time constant. We know that netdev_priv(t->dev) is the same as t for a tunnel device, and comparing "dev" directly here lets the compiler figure out as well that 'dev == sitn->fb_tunnel_dev' when called from sit_init_net(), so it no longer warns. This code is old, so Cc stable to make sure that we don't get the warning for older kernels built with new gcc. 2018-03-03ipv6: icmp6: Allow icmp messages to be looped backBrendan McGrath
[ Upstream commit 588753f1eb18978512b1c9b85fddb457d46f9033 ] One example of when an ICMPv6 packet is required to be looped back is when a host acts as both a Multicast Listener and a Multicast Router. A Multicast Router will listen on address ff02::16 for MLDv2 messages. Currently, MLDv2 messages originating from a Multicast Listener running on the same host as the Multicast Router are not being delivered to the Multicast Router. This is due to dst.input being assigned the default value of dst_discard. This results in the packet being looped back but discarded before being delivered to the Multicast Router. This patch sets dst.input to ip6_input to ensure a looped back packet is delivered to the Multicast Router. Signed-off-by: Brendan McGrath <redmcg@redmandi.dyndns.org> Signed-off-by: David S. 2018-02-16ip6mr: fix stale iteratorNikolay Aleksandrov
[ Upstream commit 4adfa79fc254efb7b0eb3cd58f62c2c3f805f1ba ] When we dump the ip6mr mfc entries via proc, we initialize an iterator with the table to dump but we don't clear the cache pointer which might be initialized from a prior read on the same descriptor that ended. This can result in lock imbalance (an unnecessary unlock) leading to other crashes and hangs. Clear the cache pointer like ipmr does to fix the issue. Thanks for the reliable reproducer. 2018-01-31ipv6: fix udpv6 sendmsg crash caused by too small MTUMike Maloney
[ Upstream commit 749439bfac6e1a2932c582e2699f91d329658196 ] The logic in __ip6_append_data() assumes that the MTU is at least large enough for the headers. A device's MTU may be adjusted after being added while sendmsg() is processing data, resulting in __ip6_append_data() seeing any MTU. For an mtu smaller than the size of the fragmentation header, the math results in a negative 'maxfraglen', which causes problems when refragmenting any previous skb in the skb_write_queue, leaving it possibly malformed. Instead sendmsg returns EINVAL when the mtu is calculated to be less than IPV6_MIN_MTU. The getsockopt() handling for this case was not updated, so it currently returns 0 for all sockets for which IPV6_AUTOFLOWLABEL is not explicitly enabled. The dummy ruleset I used to test the original validation change was broken, most rules were unreachable and were not tested by mark_source_chains(). In some cases rulesets that used to load in a few seconds now require several minutes. sample ruleset that shows the behaviour: echo "*filter" for i in $(seq 0 100000);do printf ":chain_%06x - [0:0]\n" $i done for i in $(seq 0 100000);do printf -- "-A INPUT -j chain_%06x\n" $i printf -- "-A INPUT -j chain_%06x\n" $i printf -- "-A INPUT -j chain_%06x\n" $i done echo COMMIT [ pipe result into iptables-restore ] This ruleset will be about 74mbyte in size, with ~500k searches though all 500k[1] rule entries. iptables-restore will take forever (gave up after 10 minutes) Instead of always searching the entire blob for a match, fill an array with the start offsets of every single ipt_entry struct, then do a binary search to check if the jump target is present or not. After this change ruleset restore times get again close to what one gets when reverting 36472341017529e (~3 seconds on my workstation).
