2013-11-04l2tp: must disable bh before calling l2tp_xmit_skb()Eric Dumazet
[ Upstream commit 455cc32bf128e114455d11ad919321ab89a2c312 ] François Cachereul made a very nice bug report and suspected the bh_lock_sock() / bh_unlok_sock() pair used in l2tp_xmit_skb() from process context was not good. This problem was added by commit 6af88da14ee284aaad6e4326da09a89191ab6165 ("l2tp: Fix locking in l2tp_core.c"). l2tp_eth_dev_xmit() runs from BH context, so we must disable BH from other l2tp_xmit_skb() users. [ Upstream commit e1558a93b61962710733dc8c11a2bc765607f1cd ] Add missing .owner of struct pppox_proto. This prevents the module from being removed from underneath its users. [ Upstream commit a6f79d0f26704214b5b702bbac525cb72997f984 ] PPPoL2TP sockets should comply with the standard send*() return values (i.e. return number of bytes sent instead of 0 upon success). 2013-06-27l2tp: Fix PPP header erasure and memory leakGuillaume Nault
[ Upstream commit 55b92b7a11690bc377b5d373872a6b650ae88e64 ] Copy user data after PPP framing header. This prevents erasure of the added PPP header and avoids leaking two bytes of uninitialised memory at the end of skb's data buffer. 2013-03-20l2tp: Restore socket refcount when sendmsg succeedsGuillaume Nault
[ Upstream commit 8b82547e33e85fc24d4d172a93c796de1fefa81a ] The sendmsg() syscall handler for PPPoL2TP doesn't decrease the socket reference counter after successful transmissions. Any successful sendmsg() call from userspace will then increase the reference counter forever, thus preventing the kernel's session and tunnel data from being freed later on. The problem only happens when writing directly on L2TP sockets. PPP sockets attached to L2TP are unaffected as the PPP subsystem uses pppol2tp_xmit() which symmetrically increase/decrease reference counters. This patch adds the missing call to sock_put() before returning from pppol2tp_sendmsg(). Signed-off-by: Guillaume Nault <g.nault@alphalink.fr> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2012-11-17l2tp: fix oops in l2tp_eth_create() error pathTom Parkin
[ Upstream commit 789336360e0a2aeb9750c16ab704a02cbe035e9e ] When creating an L2TPv3 Ethernet session, if register_netdev() should fail for any reason (for example, automatic naming for "l2tpeth%d" interfaces hits the 32k-interface limit), the netdev is freed in the error path. However, the l2tp_eth_sess structure's dev pointer is left uncleared, and this results in l2tp_eth_delete() then attempting to unregister the same netdev later in the session teardown. This results in an oops. To avoid this, clear the session dev pointer in the error path. Signed-off-by: Tom Parkin <tparkin@katalix.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2012-06-10l2tp: fix oops in L2TP IP sockets for connect() AF_UNSPEC caseJames Chapman
[ Upstream commit c51ce49735c183ef2592db70f918ee698716276b ] An application may call connect() to disconnect a socket using an address with family AF_UNSPEC. The L2TP IP sockets were not handling this case when the socket is not bound and an attempt to connect() using AF_UNSPEC in such cases would result in an oops. This patch addresses the problem by protecting the sk_prot->disconnect() call against trying to unhash the socket before it is bound. The patch also adds more checks that the sockaddr supplied to bind() and connect() calls is valid. 2012-01-25l2tp: l2tp_ip - fix possible oops on packet receiveJames Chapman
When a packet is received on an L2TP IP socket (L2TPv3 IP link encapsulation), the l2tpip socket's backlog_rcv function calls xfrm4_policy_check(). This is not necessary, since it was called before the skb was added to the backlog. With CONFIG_NET_NS enabled, xfrm4_policy_check() will oops if skb->dev is null, so this trivial patch removes the call. This bug has always been present, but only when CONFIG_NET_NS is enabled does it cause problems. Most users are probably using UDP encapsulation for L2TP, hence the problem has only recently surfaced. 2011-04-28inet: add RCU protection to inet->optEric Dumazet
We lack proper synchronization to manipulate inet->opt ip_options Problem is ip_make_skb() calls ip_setup_cork() and ip_setup_cork() possibly makes a copy of ipc->opt (struct ip_options), without any protection against another thread manipulating inet->opt. Another thread can change inet->opt pointer and free old one under us. Use RCU to protect inet->opt (changed to inet->inet_opt). Instead of handling atomic refcounts, just copy ip_options when necessary, to avoid cache line dirtying. We cant insert an rcu_head in struct ip_options since its included in skb->cb[], so this patch is large because I had to introduce a new ip_options_rcu structure. 2011-04-27ipv4: Sanitize and simplify ip_route_{connect,newports}()David S. Miller
These functions are used together as a unit for route resolution during connect(). They address the chicken-and-egg problem that exists when ports need to be allocated during connect() processing, yet such port allocations require addressing information from the routing code. It's currently more heavy handed than it needs to be, and in particular we allocate and initialize a flow object twice. Let the callers provide the on-stack flow object. That way we only need to initialize it once in the ip_route_connect() call. Later, if ip_route_newports() needs to do anything, it re-uses that flow object as-is except for the ports which it updates before the route re-lookup. Also, describe why this set of facilities are needed and how it works in a big comment. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Reviewed-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com>
