2010-06-03mac80211: reduce debugfs code sizeFelix Fietkau
This patch reduces the binary size by around 25k (measured on MIPS, with CONFIG_MAC80211_DEBUG_COUNTERS enabled). Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@openwrt.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2010-02-08mac80211: Added a new debugfs file for reading channel_typeBenoit Papillault
This file helps debugging HT channels since it displays if we are on ht20 or ht40+/ht40- Signed-off-by: Benoit Papillault <benoit.papillault@free.fr> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2010-01-12mac80211: add debugfs interface for U-APSD queue configurationKalle Valo
Because it's not yet decided how to configure which queues are U-APSD enabled, add a debugfs interface for testing purposes. Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kalle.valo@nokia.com> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-11-18mac80211: make software rate control optionalJohannes Berg
Some devices implement the entire rate control in firmware in some way, like wl1271 or like iwlwifi which does some things in software but not a lot. Therefore generic software rate control is rather useless for them and just adds avoidable overhead to the transmit path. It's fairly simple to let drivers indicate that they do not need rate control, but they need to fulfil a number of conditions that we encode in WARN_ONs. 2009-10-30cfg80211/mac80211: use debugfs_remove_recursiveJohannes Berg
We can save a lot of code and pointers in the structs by using debugfs_remove_recursive(). First, change cfg80211 to use debugfs_remove_recursive() so that drivers do not need to clean up any files they added to the per-wiphy debugfs (if and only if they are ok to be accessed until after wiphy_unregister!). Then also make mac80211 use debugfs_remove_recursive() where necessary -- it need not remove per-wiphy files as cfg80211 now removes those, but netdev etc. files still need to be handled but can now be removed without needing struct dentry pointers to all of them. 2009-07-24mac80211: remove master netdevJohannes Berg
With the internal 'pending' queue system in place, we can simply put packets there instead of pushing them off to the master dev, getting rid of the master interface completely. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-06-15mac80211: add queue debugfs fileJohannes Berg
I suspect that some driver bugs can cause queues to be stopped while they shouldn't be, but it's hard to find out whether that is the case or not without having any visible information about the queues. This adds a file to debugfs that allows us to see the queues' statuses. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-05-20mac80211/cfg80211: move wiphy specific debugfs entries to cfg80211Luis R. Rodriguez
This moves the cfg80211 specific stuff to new cfg80211 debugfs entries. Non-mac80211 will also get these entries now. There were only 4 which we take: rts_threshold fragmentation_threshold short_retry_limit long_retry_limit Signed-off-by: Luis R. Rodriguez <lrodriguez@atheros.com> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-05-13mac80211: make noack test availableJohannes Berg
There's this internal wifi_wme_noack_test variable that we use to set the QoS control if set. For one, it is unlikely that it is set. Secondly, if set it needs to influence the IEEE80211_TX_CTL_NO_ACK TX control flag, and finally we should also be able to set it at all, so make it available in debugfs. 2009-05-06mac80211: add driver ops wrappersJohannes Berg
In order to later add tracing or verifications to the driver calls mac80211 makes, this patch adds static inline wrappers for all operations. All calls are now written as drv_<op>(local, ...); instead of local->ops-><op>(&local->hw, ...); Where necessary, the wrappers also do existence checking and return default values as appropriate. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-04-22nl80211: Add set/get for frag/rts threshold and retry limitsJouni Malinen
Add new nl80211 attributes that can be used with NL80211_CMD_SET_WIPHY and NL80211_CMD_GET_WIPHY to manage fragmentation/RTS threshold and retry limits. Since these values are stored in struct wiphy, remove the local copy from mac80211 where feasible (frag & rts threshold). The retry limits are currently needed in struct ieee80211_conf, but these could be eventually removed since the driver should have access to the values in struct wiphy. 2009-03-27mac80211: resume properly, add suspend/resume testJohannes Berg
When mac80211 resumes, it currently doesn't reconfigure the interfaces entirely and also doesn't reconfigure BSS information -- fix this. Also, to be able to test this, add a debugfs file that just calls the suspend/resume code to see what happens when we go through that, without needing the time-consuming suspend/resume cycle. (Original version broke the build for CONFIG_PM=n. Define alternative functions for that situation. -- JWL) Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-01-29mac80211: Generic TSF debuggingAlina Friedrichsen
This patch enables low-level driver independent debugging of the TSF and remove the driver specific things of ath5k and ath9k from the debugfs. Signed-off-by: Alina Friedrichsen <x-alina@gmx.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-01-29mac80211: Read the TSF via debugfsAlina Friedrichsen
This patch adds an low-level driver independent entry to read the TSF value into the debugfs of mac80211. This makes debugging the IBSS handling of wifi drivers easier. Signed-off-by: Alina Friedrichsen <x-alina@gmx.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-01-29mac80211: remove unused variable in ieee80211_local ↵Rami Rosen
(dot11WEPUndecryptableCount). This patch removes an unused declaration of dot11WEPUndecryptableCount (an snmp counter) in ieee80211_local structure and its usage in debugfs.c since this counter is not incremented/decremented anywhere. 2008-10-31mac80211: make retry limits part of hw configJohannes Berg
Instead of having a separate callback, use the HW config callback with a new flag to change retry limits. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2008-10-31mac80211: kill hw.conf.antenna_sel_{rx,tx}Johannes Berg

2008-09-15mac80211: make bridge_packets a virtual interface optionJohannes Berg
The bridge_packets configuration really should be per virtual interface (theoretically per AP/VLAN, but this is much easier); there currently is no way to set it yet though. Also invert the option to "NO_BRIDGE_PACKETS" so the default is to bridge. While at it, also document the flags properly. 2008-07-14mac80211: revamp virtual interface handlingJohannes Berg
This patch revamps the virtual interface handling and makes the code much easier to follow. Fewer functions, better names, less spaghetti code. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2008-05-07mac80211: QoS related cleanupsJohannes Berg
This * makes the queue number passed to drivers a u16 (as it will be with skb_get_queue_mapping) * removes the useless queue number defines * splits hw->queues into hw->queues/ampdu_queues * removes the debugfs files for per-queue counters * removes some dead QoS code * removes the beacon queue configuration for IBSS so that the drivers now never get a queue number bigger than (hw->queues + hw->ampdu_queues - 1) for tx and only in the range 0..hw->queues-1 for conf_tx. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2008-04-08mac80211: rename filesJohannes Berg
This patch renames all mac80211 files (except ieee80211_i.h) to get rid of the useless ieee80211_ prefix. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2008-04-08mac80211: make debugfs files root-onlyJohannes Berg
Unfortunately, debugfs can be made to access invalid memory by open()ing a file and then waiting until the corresponding debugfs file has been removed (and, probably, the underlying object.) That could be exploited by any user if the user is able to open debugfs files and can cause networking devices, STA entries or similar to disappear which is quite easy to do. Hence, all debugfs files should be root-only. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2008-02-29cfg80211 API for channels/bitrates, mac80211 and driver conversionJohannes Berg
This patch creates new cfg80211 wiphy API for channel and bitrate registration and converts mac80211 and drivers to the new API. The old mac80211 API is completely ripped out. All drivers (except ath5k) are updated to the new API, in many cases I expect that optimisations can be done. Along with the regulatory code I've also ripped out the IEEE80211_HW_DEFAULT_REG_DOMAIN_CONFIGURED flag, I believe it to be unnecessary if the hardware simply gives us whatever channels it wants to support and we then enable/disable them as required, which is pretty much required for travelling. Additionally, the patch adds proper "basic" rate handling for STA mode interface, AP mode interface will have to have new API added to allow userspace to set the basic rate set, currently it'll be empty... However, the basic rate handling will need to be moved to the BSS conf stuff. I do expect there to be bugs in this, especially wrt. transmit power handling where I'm basically clueless about how it should work. 2007-10-10[MAC80211]: remove turbo modesJohannes Berg
This patch removes all mention of the atheros turbo modes that can't possibly work properly anyway since in some places we don't check for them when we should. I have no idea what the iwlwifi drivers were doing with these but it can't possibly have been correct.
