9 daystreewide: Remove empty board_init() function from all boardsSam Protsenko
Commit 86acdce2ba88 ("common: add config for board_init() call") introduced CONFIG_BOARD_INIT option. This option can be disabled for the boards where board_init() function is not needed. Remove empty board_init() calls for all boards where it's possible, and disable CONFIG_BOARD_INIT in all related defconfigs. This cleanup was made semi-automatically using these scripts: [1]. No functional change, but the binary size for the modified boards is reduced a bit. 2025-04-23sandbox: provide static IP addresses for eth{2, 3, 5, 6, 7}Jerome Forissier
The tests in test/dm/eth.c and test/dm/dsa.c use interfaces that have no static IP addresses configured in the board's default environment file. That will be a problem when NET_LWIP=y because the lwIP stack refuses to send ICMP packets through an interface that doesn't have an IP ("no route to host"). Therefore and in preparation for enabling the sandbox tests with NET_LWIP, provide such addresses in board/sandbox/sandbox.env. 2024-07-14scripts/Makefile.lib: EFI: Use capsule CRT instead of ESL fileJonathan Humphreys
The EFI Capsule ESL file (EFI Signature List File) used for authentication is a binary generated from the EFI Capsule public key certificate. Instead of including it in the source repo, automatically generate it from the certificate file during the build process. Currently, sandbox is the only device using this, so removed its ESL file and set the (new) CONFIG_EFI_CAPSULE_CRT_FILE config to point to its public key certificate. Add the private keys and public key certificates which are to be used for capsule authentication while testing the EFI capsule update functionality. There are two pairs of private and public keys, good and bad. The good key pair will be used for signing capsules, whilst the bad key pair is to be used as malicious keys for testing authentication failure cases. The capsule_pub_key_good.crt is also converted to an EFI Signature List(ESL) file, SIGNER.esl, which is embedded in the platform's device-tree for capsule authentication. 2022-06-08sandbox: Move some mac addresses to device treeSean Anderson
This prevents some conflicts when running sandbox with -D, since the "rom" mac address will be random and won't match the environment. 2021-01-05dm: Rename U_BOOT_DEVICE() to U_BOOT_DRVINFO()Simon Glass
The current macro is a misnomer since it does not declare a device directly. Instead, it declares driver_info record which U-Boot uses at runtime to create a device. The distinction seems somewhat minor most of the time, but is becomes quite confusing when we actually want to declare a device, with of-platdata. We are left trying to distinguish between a device which isn't actually device, and a device that is (perhaps an 'instance'?) It seems better to rename this macro to describe what it actually is. The macros is not widely used, since boards should use devicetree to declare devices. Rename it to U_BOOT_DRVINFO(), which indicates clearly that this is declaring a new driver_info record, not a device. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

2020-07-17treewide: convert bd_t to struct bd_info by coccinelleMasahiro Yamada
The Linux coding style guide (Documentation/process/coding-style.rst) clearly says: It's a **mistake** to use typedef for structures and pointers. Besides, using typedef for structures is annoying when you try to make headers self-contained. Let's say you have the following function declaration in a header: void foo(bd_t *bd); This is not self-contained since bd_t is not defined. To tell the compiler what 'bd_t' is, you need to include <asm/u-boot.h> #include <asm/u-boot.h> void foo(bd_t *bd); Then, the include direcective pulls in more bloat needlessly. If you use 'struct bd_info' instead, it is enough to put a forward declaration as follows: struct bd_info; void foo(struct bd_info *bd); Right, typedef'ing bd_t is a mistake. I used coccinelle to generate this commit. The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows: <smpl> @@ typedef bd_t; @@ -bd_t +struct bd_info </smpl> Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <masahiroy@kernel.org>
2020-07-09drivers: rename drivers to match compatible stringWalter Lozano
When using OF_PLATDATA, the bind process between devices and drivers is performed trying to match compatible string with driver names. However driver names are not strictly defined, and also there are different names used when declaring a driver with U_BOOT_DRIVER, the name of the symbol used in the linker list and the used in the struct driver_info. In order to make things a bit more clear, rename the drivers names. This will also help for further OF_PLATDATA improvements, such as checking for valid driver names. 2019-04-23sandbox: Improve debugging in initcall_run_list()Simon Glass
At present if one of the initcalls fails on sandbox the address printing is not help, e.g.: initcall sequence 0000557678967c80 failed at call 00005576709dfe1f (err=-96) This is because U-Boot gets relocated high into memory and the relocation offset (gd->reloc_off) does not work correctly for sandbox. Add support for finding the base address of the text region (at least on Linux) and use that to set the relocation offset. This makes the output better: initcall sequence 0000560775957c80 failed at call 0000000000048134 (err=-96) Then you use can use grep to see which init call failed, e.g.: $ grep 0000000000048134 u-boot.map stdio_add_devices Of course another option is to run it with a debugger such as gdb: $ gdb u-boot ...
