2023-08-09treewide: rework linker symbol declarations in sections headerShiji Yang
1. Convert all linker symbols to char[] type so that we can get the corresponding address by calling array name 'var' or its address '&var'. In this way, we can avoid some potential issues[1]. 2. Remove unused symbol '_TEXT_BASE'. It has been abandoned and has not been referenced by any source code. 3. Move '__data_end' to the arch x86's own sections header as it's only used by x86 arch. 4. Remove some duplicate declared linker symbols. Now we use the standard header file to declare them. [1] This patch fixes the boot failure on MIPS target. 2021-09-04power: Rename CONFIG_POWER to CONFIG_POWER_LEGACYSimon Glass
This option is used in pre-driver model code and much of it has never been converted to driver model. We want to add a new option to enable power support, so we can use a simple rule in the Makefile. Rename this one, which is really about a particular implementation of power. Also update the pmic.h header file so it either includes the legacy API or the driver model one. 2021-03-02reset: Remove addr parameter from reset_cpu()Harald Seiler
Historically, the reset_cpu() function had an `addr` parameter which was meant to pass in an address of the reset vector location, where the CPU should reset to. This feature is no longer used anywhere in U-Boot as all reset_cpu() implementations now ignore the passed value. Generic code has been added which always calls reset_cpu() with `0` which means this feature can no longer be used easily anyway. Over time, many implementations seem to have "misunderstood" the existence of this parameter as a way to customize/parameterize the reset (e.g. COLD vs WARM resets). As this is not properly supported, the code will almost always not do what it is intended to (because all call-sites just call reset_cpu() with 0). To avoid confusion and to clean up the codebase from unused left-overs of the past, remove the `addr` parameter entirely. Code which intends to support different kinds of resets should be rewritten as a sysreset driver instead. Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. The Linux coding style guide (Documentation/process/coding-style.rst) clearly says: It's a **mistake** to use typedef for structures and pointers. Besides, using typedef for structures is annoying when you try to make headers self-contained. Let's say you have the following function declaration in a header: void foo(bd_t *bd); This is not self-contained since bd_t is not defined. To tell the compiler what 'bd_t' is, you need to include <asm/u-boot.h> #include <asm/u-boot.h> void foo(bd_t *bd); Then, the include direcective pulls in more bloat needlessly. If you use 'struct bd_info' instead, it is enough to put a forward declaration as follows: struct bd_info; void foo(struct bd_info *bd); Right, typedef'ing bd_t is a mistake. I used coccinelle to generate this commit. Default voltage of SW1A/SW1B is 1.1V/1.0V for PC32PF3000A1EP on pico according to table 42 of spec of PF3000 ver 9.0. Default mode of SW1A/SW1B is APS as expected(table 47). 2019-04-25pico-imx7d: Convert DM MMCJoris Offouga
This patch enable convert DM MMC for imx7d-pico board and variant. Before the DM conversion only usdhc3 was enabled and therefore it appeared as MMC 0 to u-boot. After enabling MMC DM though usdhc3 defaults to MMC 2, which left unattended would drive changes to existing pico-pi bootscripts and environment variables that rely on mmc 0. Setup the alias of mmc0 and usdhc3 so that existing pico-imx7d boot code will work unmodified. When converting to DM_MMC it is necessary that SPL initializes eMMC by itself, so move the original eMMC initialization from U-Boot proper to SPL. 2019-03-31pico-imx7d: README: Recommend the usage of a USB hubFabio Estevam
Since commit 9e3c0174da842 ("pico-imx7d: Add LCD support") we started to notice some hangs in U-Boot. There is not an issue on such commit per se, but due to the LCD support the current drawn is increased and this may cause issues when powering pico-imx7d-pi from USB. Some computers may be a bit strict with USB current draw and will shut down their ports if the draw is too high.
