2025-11-11rsa: rename FIT_RSASSA_PSS to RSASSA_PSS and move symbols under lib/rsaQuentin Schulz
This renames FIT_RSASSA_PSS symbols to drop the FIT_ prefix to avoid potential confusion since there's nothing FIT specific to those symbols. It also isn't really related to booting, so boot/Kconfig is an odd place for them to live. Since they make sense only in relation with RSA, simply move them to lib/rsa where it makes more sense for them to reside. Signed-off-by: Quentin Schulz <quentin.schulz@cherry.de>

2025-02-28tools: Add preload_check_sign to authenticate images with a pre-loadPaul HENRYS
preload_check_sign is added so that it can be used to authenticate images signed with the pre-load signature supported by binman and U-Boot. It could also be used to test the signature in binman tests signing images with the pre-load. Signed-off-by: Paul HENRYS <paul.henrys_ext@softathome.com>

This code is not necessarily needed in VPL, even if SPL uses it, so adjust the rules to allow it to be dropped. Do the same for the hash API. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
2024-06-14tools: Build mkeficapsule tool by default if EFI_LOADER is setJonathan Humphreys
Trigger the building of the mkeficapsule tool if EFI_LOADER is enabled. Previously it was triggered on EFI_CAPSULE_ON_DISK, but mkeficapsule is needed when a capsule is being generated for a bootloader stage, not just from the stage applying them. EFI_LOADER is a more accurate approximation of when a capsule may need to be generated. Signed-off-by: Jonathan Humphreys <j-humphreys@ti.com>

2024-01-11tools: fix build without LIBCRYPTO supportPaul-Erwan Rio
Commit cb9faa6f98ae ("tools: Use a single target-independent config to enable OpenSSL") introduced a target-independent configuration to build crypto features in host tools. But since commit 2c21256b27d7 ("hash: Use Kconfig to enable hashing in host tools and SPL") the build without OpenSSL is broken, due to FIT signature/encryption features. Add missing conditional compilation tokens to fix this. 2024-01-11tools: kwbimage: Allow disabling build on non-mvebu platformsAlexander Dahl
Some users want to build with CONFIG_TOOLS_LIBCRYPTO disabled, which in general is possible for at least some boards. 32-bit mvebu however requires kwbimage for building SPL, and kwbimage has a hard dependency to host OpenSSL. The new symbol CONFIG_TOOLS_KWBIMAGE allows disabling kwbimage build on non-mvebu platforms, and thus building without host libcrypto from OpenSSL. Add a host Kconfig for CRC32. With this we can use CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(CRC32) directly in the host build, so drop the unnecessary indirection. Add a few more conditions to SPL_CRC32 to avoid build failures as well as TPL_CRC32. Also update hash.c to make crc32 optional and to actually take notice of SPL_CRC32. 2021-10-08hash: Use Kconfig to enable hashing in host tools and SPLSimon Glass
At present when building host tools, we force CONFIG_SHAxxx to be enabled regardless of the board Kconfig setting. This is done in the image.h header file. For SPL we currently just assume the algorithm is desired if U-Boot proper enables it. Clean this up by adding new Kconfig options to enable hashing on the host, relying on CONFIG_IS_ENABLED() to deal with the different builds. Add new SPL Kconfigs for hardware-accelerated hashing, to maintain the current settings. This allows us to drop the image.h code and the I_WANT_MD5 hack. 2021-10-08image: Add Kconfig options for FIT in the tools buildSimon Glass
In preparation for enabling CONFIG_IS_ENABLED() on the host build, add some options to enable the various FIT options expected in these tools. 2021-07-16tools: Use a single target-independent config to enable OpenSSLAlexandru Gagniuc
Host tool features, such as mkimage's ability to sign FIT images were enabled or disabled based on the target configuration. However, this misses the point of a target-agnostic host tool. A target's ability to verify FIT signatures is independent of mkimage's ability to create those signatures. In fact, u-boot's build system doesn't sign images. The target code can be successfully built without relying on any ability to sign such code. Conversely, mkimage's ability to sign images does not require that those images will only work on targets which support FIT verification. Linking mkimage cryptographic features to target support for FIT verification is misguided. Without loss of generality, we can say that host features are and should be independent of target features. While we prefer that a host tool always supports the same feature set, we recognize the following - some users prefer to build u-boot without a dependency on OpenSSL. - some distros prefer to ship mkimage without linking to OpenSSL To allow these use cases, introduce a host-only Kconfig which is used to select or deselect libcrypto support. Some mkimage features or some host tools might not be available, but this shouldn't affect the u-boot build. I also considered setting the default of this config based on FIT_SIGNATURE. While it would preserve the old behaviour it's also contrary to the goals of this change. I decided to enable it by default, so that the default build yields the most feature-complete mkimage. 2020-10-09Kconfig: Create a new tools menuSimon Glass
At present MKIMAGE_DTC_PATH is in the devicetree menu but not within 'devicetree control' since it does not relate to that. As a result it shows up in the top menu. It actually relates to the mkimage tool, so create a new tools menu for it and move it there. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
