Pull networking updates from Paolo Abeni:
"This includes a significant number of low-priority fixes - especially
in the NIC drivers area - that we deferred from the last few RCs in
the previous cycle, which can't be easily outlined in the synopsis
below.
Core & protocols:
- Continue the work on removing rtnl_lock dependencies:
- per-netns ARP and ND neighbour tables, with the default settings
now configurable per netns (inheritance from init_net is
controlled by the new net.core.neigh_inherit_init_net sysctl)
- RCU-protected configuration and rtnl_lock-less fill_info() for
hsr, netkit, sit, vlan and vxlan devices
- per-netns device unregistration for ip tunnel and gre devices
- use the netdev instance lock instead of rtnl_lock when reading
speed and duplex via sysfs
- batch the flushing of uncached routes at device unregistration
time, relieving rtnl_lock contention on netns dismantle.
- Add hardware pacing offload support, admin-controlled via a new
rtnetlink attribute, with sch_fq integration (implemented in idpf).
- Re-segment BIG TCP GSO packets into GSO packets fitting the egress
device limits instead of plain MSS-sized segments, improving
throughput for mixed BIG TCP / non-BIG TCP paths by up to 70%.
- Generate RSS keys that spread flows over all the RX queues; the
previous random keys could leave some queues unused.
- Optimize the bridge VLAN forwarding paths: cache the port-VLAN in
fdb entries and consider only VLAN members when flooding, for ~10%
more Mpps in the fdb forwarding path.
- A few TCP/IP performance improvements aimed at efficient cache
usage and reducing contention.
- Add the TCP ROCCET congestion control, a CUBIC variant aimed at
avoiding bufferbloat in cellular networks.
- Continue the conversion of getsockopt callbacks to sockopt_t.
- Add an ethtool command to list the front-facing ports of an
interface, including SFP cages and modules, using the phy_port
representation.
- Enable BIG TCP support for bareudp tunnels.
- Remove the IPV6_ADDRFORM socket option and disallow buggy TCP state
transitions (listen() + shutdown() + connect() and connect() +
connect(AF_UNSPEC) + listen()).
- Remove most BUG_ON()s from core packet processing, replacing them
with error paths.
Wireless:
- Latency improvements, including lockless station get/dump and
beacon updates, plus RTNL reduction and locking cleanups.
- Infrastructure for non-station TX/RX with MLO.
- NAN (Wi-Fi Aware) Instant Communication support and other NAN
improvements.
- Control frame Integrity Protocol (CIP) and protected TWT support.
- Improvements for AP regulatory checks.
Netfilter:
- Disable br_netfilter in user namespaces and schedule it for removal
in 2027.
- Restrict the raw table in nft_compat to the specific family, hook
and priority.
- Prepare the flowtable for mixed IPv4-over-IPv6 tunneling (and vice
versa).
- Use GFP_KERNEL_ACCOUNT for most netfilter allocations, for better
integration with memcg.
- Allow discovering conntrack zone filtering support in ctnetlink
dumps, and fix nfnetlink_hook handling of large dumps.
Deletions:
- Move the LLC type 2 sockets out of tree. There are no known users
and the code attracts a never-ending stream of LLM-driven fixes.
Device drivers:
- New drivers:
- Meta Platforms NIC (mpnic), the second-generation NIC from Meta
- initial skeleton of the Nebula-matrix NICs driver (nbl)
- X-Powers AC200/AC300 Fast Ethernet PHYs
- Ethernet high-speed NICs:
- Intel:
- i40e: XDP metadata support for RX hash and VLAN tag
- ice: expose the E825 TSPLL state via the DPLL subsystem
- nVidia/Mellanox:

preparation for netdev support.
- reduce the memory used per offloaded TC rule

- support large io_uring zero-copy RX buffers
- Microsoft vNIC (mana):
- add BQL support

This reverts commit 93ce8ea70451e800601bc9444aa33043de15d67b.
Mehmet reported that the offending commit breaks his AR9271 USB adapter
which uses zero-length replies to commands that don't return a value.
Revert the whole thing to restore the functionality.

The spectral_scan_ctl debugfs file drives PHY register writes, and
nothing checks whether the hardware is up. While the interface is down
the chip is asleep, and on the AR9271 those writes go over WMI to a
sleeping target and hang the firmware until the device is re-enumerated.
Refuse the write with -EBUSY while ATH_OP_INVALID is set. The reset
control already refuses on the same flag.

ath9k_deinit_channel_context() cancels chanctx_work but does not delete
the offchannel and sched timers set up by ath9k_init_channel_context().
If either timer fires after deinit (e.g. during driver unload or
suspend), it accesses sc->sc_ah which may already be freed by
ath9k_hw_deinit(), causing a use-after-free.
Delete both timers with timer_shutdown_sync() before cancelling the work
item.

__hif_usb_tx() dequeues up to MAX_TX_AGGR_NUM (20) frames into a
single tx_buf of MAX_TX_BUF_SIZE (32768) bytes, limiting the batch
by record count but never by cumulative byte length.
With large frames (MTU 2304), 20 aggregated frames of 2292 bytes
each exceed the allocation (20 * 2296 = 45920 bytes), so the
memcpy() in the loop writes up to 13152 bytes past tx_buf->buf
before usb_submit_urb().
Peek the queue head and stop before copying any record that would
cross MAX_TX_BUF_SIZE, then dispatch the current batch. Leftover
skbs remain queued and are drained on the next URB completion.
The byte bound changes the loop's exit semantics: it can now exit
before i == tx_skb_cnt - 1. Stock only finalized tx_buf->len on
that last index (len += offset), so an early break would submit a
URB holding only the last record's length while every dequeued skb
is freed on completion, silently dropping frames. Make tx_buf->len
a running total and advance tx_buf->offset per record instead; the
stride round_up(nskb->len + 4, 4) is identical to the stock stride
when the loop runs to completion.
Tested on hardware with an MTU 2304 flood: the loop stops at
record 15 (len = 32144, offset = 32144, within 32768), no
oversized URB is submitted, and MTU 1500 pings pass 20/20.

ath9k_wmi_rsp_callback() removes the validated WMI header and copies
the number of bytes expected by the waiting command into its response
buffer. A device response shorter than that expectation can therefore
be read beyond the skb payload.
Record -EMSGSIZE for a short response, complete the waiter, and return
the stored status from the command path. This also prevents callers from
consuming stale response bytes as a successful reply.

The ath9k driver has a couple of guards against the RX path running
until device initialisation has completed. However, they are problematic
for several reasons:
- They use smp_wmb() paired with a data_race() annotation, instead of
the idiomatic smp_store_release()/smp_load_acquire() pair.
- The guard in ath9k_wmi_event_tasklet() is weirdly late in the
function.
- There are two of them when there's really no reason the rx init gets
to run before the whole initialisation is complete.
Consolidate the guards on the single ath9k_htc_priv->initialized
variable and use smp_store_release()/smp_load_acquire() to access it.
Move the store into ath9k_init_device() to make sure it's set in all
paths in the driver.

Commit c4f518736472 ("wifi: ath9k: Remove redundant rcu_read_lock/unlock()
in spin_lock") removed the explicit rcu_read_lock()/rcu_read_unlock() pair
from ath_txq_schedule(), relying on spin_lock_bh() to provide an implicit
RCU read-side critical section.
That is correct on kernels without CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC, where
rcu_read_lock_any_held() falls back to !preemptible() as a proxy, and
spin_lock_bh() disables preemption.
However, rcu_dereference() in ath_merge_ratetbl() checks
rcu_read_lock_held(), which under CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC only returns
true when lock_is_held(&rcu_lock_map) — set exclusively by an explicit
rcu_read_lock(). A spin_lock_bh() does not set rcu_lock_map, so on a
CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC + CONFIG_PROVE_RCU kernel, any call path that
reaches ath_merge_ratetbl() with a non-NULL sta will produce a lockdep
splat.
The correct fix is to use rcu_dereference_bh(), whose validity check
calls rcu_read_lock_bh_held(), which returns true whenever BH is disabled
(in_softirq() || irqs_disabled()). This matches the actual protection
at all callers of ath_set_rates() that pass a non-NULL sta: they all hold
a spin_lock_bh() (either sc->chan_lock or txq->axq_lock).

ath9k_hif_request_firmware() re-arms an asynchronous firmware load via
request_firmware_nowait(), passing hif_dev as the completion context, and
then still dereferences hif_dev:
dev_info(&hif_dev->udev->dev, "ath9k_htc: Firmware %s requested\n",
hif_dev->fw_name);
The re-armed callback ath9k_hif_usb_firmware_cb() runs on the "events"
workqueue and, when the firmware is missing, walks the retry chain into
ath9k_hif_usb_firmware_fail() -> complete_all(&hif_dev->fw_done). That
releases the wait_for_completion(&hif_dev->fw_done) in a concurrent
ath9k_hif_usb_disconnect(), which then kfree()s hif_dev. The trailing
dev_info() in the frame that re-armed the request can therefore read freed
memory (hif_dev->udev, the first field of struct hif_device_usb):
BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in ath9k_hif_request_firmware
Read of size 8 ... by task kworker/...

Freed by ...:

The fw_done barrier only makes disconnect wait for the firmware chain to
*terminate*; it does not protect the outer ath9k_hif_request_firmware()
frame that re-armed the request and keeps touching hif_dev afterwards.
Drop the post-request dev_info(): it is the only use of hif_dev after the
async request is armed, and it is purely informational (the dev_err() on the
failure path runs only when request_firmware_nowait() did not arm a callback,
so hif_dev is still alive there).
This was first reported by syzbot as a single, non-reproduced crash that was
later auto-obsoleted, and was independently rediscovered by the reFuzz fuzzer,
which produced a C reproducer (USB-gadget connect/disconnect of an ath9k_htc
device whose firmware download fails). The vulnerable code is unchanged and
still present in v7.1-rc6, where the slab-use-after-free reproduces under KASAN
once the (sub-microsecond) race window is widened.

Clear ath9k DMA descriptors with explicit status word stores instead of
memset(). The descriptor rings are coherent DMA memory, which may be
mapped uncached on 32-bit powerpc. The optimized memset() path can use
dcbz there and trigger an alignment warning.
Use WRITE_ONCE() for the descriptor status words so the compiler keeps
the clears as ordinary stores instead of folding them back into bulk
memset(). This covers AR9003 TX status descriptors as well as the RX
status area cleared when setting up RX descriptors.

Remove WIPHY_FLAG_SUPPORTS_5_10_MHZ and 5/10 MHz channel
width support. We contemplated this back in early 2023
and didn't do it yet, but nobody stepped up to maintain
it.
It's already _mostly_ dead code since it can really only
be used for AP and maybe IBSS and monitor, but not on a
client since there's no way to scan (and hasn't been in
a very long time, if ever), so the only thing that ever
could really happen with it was run syzbot and trip over
assumptions in the code.

Since commit a8bb74acd8efe ("rcu: Consolidate RCU-sched update-side function definitions")
there is no difference between rcu_read_lock(), rcu_read_lock_bh() and
rcu_read_lock_sched() in terms of RCU read section and the relevant grace
period. That means that spin_lock(), which implies rcu_read_lock_sched(),
also implies rcu_read_lock().
There is no need no explicitly start a RCU read section if one has already
been started implicitly by spin_lock().
Simplify the code and remove the inner rcu_read_lock() invocation.

The ath9k has an odd use of system-wide GPIOs: if the chip
does not have internal GPIO capability, it will try to obtain a
GPIO line from the system GPIO controller:
if (BIT(gpio) & ah->caps.gpio_mask)
ath9k_hw_gpio_cfg_wmac(...);
else if (AR_SREV_SOC(ah))
ath9k_hw_gpio_cfg_soc(ah, gpio, out, label);
Where ath9k_hw_gpio_cfg_soc() will attempt to issue
gpio_request_one() passing the local GPIO number of the controller
(0..31) to gpio_request_one().
This is somewhat peculiar and possibly even dangerous: there is
nowadays no guarantee of the numbering of these system-wide
GPIOs, and assuming that GPIO 0..31 as used by ath9k would
correspond to GPIOs 0..31 on the system as a whole seems a bit
wild.
Register all 32 GPIOs at index 0..31 directly in the ATH79K
GPIO driver and associate with the NULL device (making them
widely available) if and only if we are probing ATH79K wifi
from the AHB bus (used for SoCs). We obtain these offsets from
the NULL device if necessary.
These GPIOs should ideally be defined in the device tree
instead, but we have no control over that for the legacy
code path.
Testcompiled with the ath79 defconfig.

ieee80211_tx_prepare_skb() has three error paths, but only two of them
free the skb. The first error path (ieee80211_tx_prepare() returning
TX_DROP) does not free it, while invoke_tx_handlers() failure and the

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Currently, per-radio attributes are set on per-phy basis, i.e., all the
radios present in a wiphy will take attributes values sent from user. But
each radio in a wiphy can get different values from userspace based on
its requirement.
To extend support to set per-radio attributes, add support to get radio
index from userspace. Add an NL attribute - NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RADIO_INDEX,
to get user specified radio index for which attributes should be changed.
Pass this to individual drivers, so that the drivers can use this radio
index to change per-radio attributes when necessary. Currently, per-radio
attributes identified are:
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_TX_POWER_LEVEL
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_ANTENNA_TX
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_ANTENNA_RX
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RETRY_SHORT
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RETRY_LONG
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_FRAG_THRESHOLD
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RTS_THRESHOLD
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_COVERAGE_CLASS
NL80211_ATTR_TXQ_LIMIT
NL80211_ATTR_TXQ_MEMORY_LIMIT
NL80211_ATTR_TXQ_QUANTUM
By default, the radio index is set to -1. This means the attribute should
be treated as a global configuration. If the user has not specified any
index, then the radio index passed to individual drivers would be -1. This
would indicate that the attribute applies to all radios in that wiphy.

devm_request_mem_region, which reserves the memory region for the
various wmacs. Per board, there is only one wmac and after some fairly
thorough analysis, there are no overlapping memory regions between wmacs
and other devices on the ahb.
Tested on a TP-Link Archer C7v2.
