2025-12-05mtd: Tighten some driver dependenciesTom Rini
The ALTERA_QSPI driver conflicts with the regular FLASH_CFI_DRIVER as both implement the same high level functionality and so use the same global namespace. In a similar fashion, all NAND drivers are mutually exclusive due to namespace collisions. For the remaining drivers which did not already have some architecture specific dependency, add them. 2024-01-22mtd: Make CONFIG_MTD be the gate symbol for the menuTom Rini
The help for CONFIG_MTD explains that it needs to be enabled for various things like NAND, etc to be available. It however then doesn't enforce this dependency and so if you have none of these systems present you still need to disable a number of options. Fix this by making places that select/imply one type of flash, but did not do the same, also do this for "MTD". Make boards which hadn't been enabling MTD already but need it now, do so. 2023-04-27drivers/mtd/nvmxip: introduce NVM XIP block storage emulationAbdellatif El Khlifi
add block storage emulation for NVM XIP flash devices Some paltforms such as Corstone-1000 need to see NVM XIP raw flash as a block storage device with read only capability. Here NVM flash devices are devices with addressable memory (e.g: QSPI NOR flash). The implementation is generic and can be used by different platforms. Two drivers are provided as follows. nvmxip-blk : a generic block driver allowing to read from the XIP flash nvmxip Uclass driver : When a device is described in the DT and associated with UCLASS_NVMXIP, the Uclass creates a block device and binds it with the nvmxip-blk. The DM version CFI flash driver is in driver/mtd/cfi_flash.c, which only gets built when FLASH_CFI_DRIVER is on. If CFI_FLASH is on but FLASH_CFI_DRIVER is not, nothing is enabled at all. AM654/J721e has HyperBus Memory Controller that supports HyperFlash and HyperRAM devices. It provides a memory mapped interface to interact with these devices. Add a driver to support the same. Commit 9c5b00973bce ("Convert CONFIG_MTD_PARTITIONS et al to Kconfig") introduced a publicly visible Kconfig entry for the CONFIG_MTD_PARTITIONS option, while the rework on MTD partitioning was in progress, and we somehow did not notice that the same Kconfig entry was added by commit 4048a5c519a8 ("mtd: declare MTD_PARTITIONS symbol in Kconfig"), but this time as an invisible entry (this can only be selected by other options). Keep the non-visible version of this symbol, since MTD_PARTITIONS is not something the user should be able to enable/disable directly. 2018-09-20mtd: declare MTD_PARTITIONS symbol in KconfigMiquel Raynal
UBI selects MTD_PARTITIONS which is the symbol to compile drivers/mtd/mtdpart.c. Unfortunately, the symbol was not defined in Kconfig and this worked only with board files defining it. Fix this by adding a boolean in Kconfig so boards defined by defconfig files only will work as expected. PIC32 internal flash devices are parallel NOR flash divided into number of banks to allow erase-programming in one while fetch and execution continues on other. As the flash banks are memory mapped stored code can be executed directly from flash (XIP), also there is additional hardware logic to prefetch and cache contents to improve execution performance. These flash can also be used to store user data (like environment). Flash erase and programming are handled by on-chip NVM controller. Driver implemented driver model but MTD is not really support.
