2024-05-20Restore patch series "arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet"Tom Rini
As part of bringing the master branch back in to next, we need to allow for all of these changes to exist here. Reported-by: Jonas Karlman <jonas@kwiboo.se> Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
2024-05-19Revert "Merge patch series "arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet""Tom Rini
When bringing in the series 'arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet"' I failed to notice that b4 noticed it was based on next and so took that as the base commit and merged that part of next to master. This reverts commit c8ffd1356d42223cbb8c86280a083cc3c93e6426, reversing changes made to 2ee6f3a5f7550de3599faef9704e166e5dcace35. 2022-08-04Audit <flash.h> inclusionTom Rini
A large number of files include <flash.h> as it used to be how various SPI flash related functions were found, or for other reasons entirely. In order to migrate some further CONFIG symbols to Kconfig we need to not include flash.h in cases where we don't have a NOR flash of some sort enabled. Furthermore, in cases where we are in common code and it doesn't make sense to try and further refactor the code itself in to new files we need to guard this inclusion. 2021-10-23mtd: Remove mtd_erase_callback() entirelyMarek Behún
The original purpose of mtd_erase_callback() in Linux at the time it was imported to U-Boot, was to inform the caller that erasing is done (since it was an asynchronous operation). All supplied callback methods in U-Boot do nothing, but the mtd_erase_callback() function was (until previous patch) grossly abused in U-Boot's mtdpart implementation for completely different purpose. Since we got rid of the abusement, remove the mtd_erase_callback() function and the .callback member from struct erase_info entirely, in order to avoid such problems in the future. 2021-06-24mtd: spi-nor: allow registering multiple MTDs when DM is enabledMarek Behún
Currently when the SPI_FLASH_MTD config option is enabled, only one SPI can be registered as MTD at any time - it is the last one probed (since with old non-DM model only one SPI NOR could be probed at any time). When DM is enabled, allow for registering multiple SPI NORs as MTDs by utilizing the nor->mtd structure, which is filled in by spi_nor_scan anyway, instead of filling a separate struct mtd_info. 2018-12-06mtd: sf: Make sf_mtd.c more robustBoris Brezillon
SPI flash based MTD devs can be registered/unregistered at any time through the sf probe command or the spi_flash_free() function. This commit does not try to fix the root cause as it would probably require rewriting most of the code and have an mtd_info object instance per spi_flash object (not to mention that the the spi-flash layer is likely to be replaced by a spi-nor layer ported from Linux). Instead, we try to be as safe as can be by checking the code returned by del_mtd_device() and complain loudly when there's nothing we can do about the deregistration failure. When that happens we also reset sf_mtd_info.priv to NULL, and check for NULL pointer in the mtd hooks so that -ENODEV is returned instead of hitting a NULL pointer dereference exception when the MTD instance is later accessed by a user. 2018-12-06mtd: sf: Make sure we don't register the same device twiceBoris Brezillon
spi_flash_mtd_register() can be called several times and each time it will register the same mtd_info instance like if it was a new one. The MTD ID allocation gets crazy when that happens, so let's track the status of the sf_mtd_info object to avoid that. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>

Note (From Jagan): For testing raw mtd parition erase/read/write operations using cmd_sf, sf_mtd should be required to register the spi flash device to MTD layer but the sf_mtd_info ops were not required until and unless if we use any flash filesystem layer say for example UBI. Due to this the foot-print got increased ~290bytes in non-UBI case here that should be acceptible.
